Think Before You Speak

Good morning. When we enter into the house of God we should have an attitude of being open and ready to listen to God. God is sovereign and and requires our worship to be sincere and meaningful. Making foolish vows doesn’t impress God, so we should think about what we’re going to ask God or promise God before we speak.

Ecclesiastes 5:1-2
As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth shut. It is evil to make mindless offerings to God. Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.

Don’t Complain About Growth

Good morning. Our trials, tribulations, and struggles are to help us grow. We really don’t know the depth of our character until it is tested. It’s easy for us to praise the Lord when we are in good health, have enough money in the bank, our households are in tact, and our friends are plenty. But when our health fails, our money is funny, our households are falling apart, and our friends are few; we should see this as an opportunity to grow. God never leaves us alone during our trying times. He’s standing close by to help us grow. In these trying times our prayers should be; “Lord help me to endure and teach me what I need to learn, please don’t let me stunt my own growth with murmuring and complaining.”

James 1:2-4
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Shake It Off

Good morning. Not everyone wants to hear the truth about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Although they put up a compelling argument as to why they believe differently; we who know the truth must stay faithful. Even when it seems like everyone is jumping on the unbelief bandwagon, we must stand on the word and stand for holiness and righteousness. We will not stop proclaiming the truth about the word because people don’t want to hear it. Instead, we will speak what God tells us to speak and we will go where God tells us to go. For the Bible declares; If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. You can be sure that on Judgment Day they’ll be mighty sorry—but it’s no concern of yours now.

2 Timothy 4:3-5
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

No Time For Entertainment

Good morning. Do we ever hear a good sermon and take it at face value or do we go back and search the scriptures for ourselves? The Bible declares; my people perish for a lack of knowledge. We all like good preaching but we should demand truthful preaching of the word. That’s why it’s important for us to know the word and study the word for ourselves, so that when someone gets up to preach we will know exactly what they’re talking about. The Bible declares; study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The Bible also declares that all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. We don’t have time for someone to tickle our ears and entertain us, we need the truth of the word of God.

Acts 17:11
And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

Oh Give Thanks Unto The Lord

Good morning. We have so much to be thankful for this year. God has been good to us, he’s been merciful to us. We still are in our right minds and have the activity of our limbs. People are seeing us and not viewing us; that’s enough to give God praise. That’s enough to tell the world what a mighty God we serve. God has supplied all our needs according to his riches and glory, for that we should say thank you. Not only has he supplied our needs, he’s given us some of our wants; for that we should say thank you. He’s given us peace in the midst of the storm and for that we should say thank you. Today, we don’t have time to complain and murmur. If we’re going to open our mouths it should be to give God a praise. Oh! give thanks unto the Lord for he is good.

1 Chronicles 16:8-10
Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exult in his holy name;
rejoice, you who worship the LORD.

No Time To Be Selfish

Good morning. Are we still acting selfish and think the world revolves us? Do we have the me, myself, and I attitude? As children of God the focus should not be on us but it should be about thinking of others more than we think of ourselves. When we are followers of Jesus our mindsets should line up with his. He never tried to impress anyone. He always humbled himself. This is the attitude we should have. Let’s show others we’re thinking about them today and that we have a genuine interest about their concerns. Let’s not tell them I’ll pray for you, let’s actually pray with them. Let’s not tell them wait on God to provide, when God has given us more than enough to help them out. Let’s show people that we really are children of God.

Philippians 2:3-8
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Walk Upright Before The Lord

Good morning. Have we displayed the Lord in such a way that people trust the God in us and are willing to follow us? No matter the cost, they’ve seen how we’ve hung on to our faith in the midst of adversity, they’ve seen how we’ve stood on the word in-spite of the world telling us to let go, they’ve seen us trust God when the odds were stacked against us; and they’ve decided they want to serve that God along with us. We don’t know where other people are in their faith walk, therefore, we must always walk upright before the Lord. People are watching us and looking for something to believe in, why not give them Jesus.

Ruth 1:16-17
But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”

God Will Strip You Of Everything

Good morning. There’s a price to pay for acting any kind of way in the sight of the Lord. Being disobedient and disregarding the commands of the Lord has consequences not only for us but for our whole households. When God blesses us that’s not a time for us to start worshipping other gods. That’s not a time for us to start slacking in our prayers or our daily devotions to God. If things in our life are out of wack, we need to go back to the place where we stopped believing and trusting in God, repent and get back in line. Don’t let God have to bring disaster upon us before we realize he’s the true and living God and that he’s not playing around with us. We cannot serve God and the world. We cannot be blessed by God and give some idol his glory. We need to repent before he strip us of everything even our lives.

1 Kings 14:8-10
I ripped the kingdom away from the family of David and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servant David, who obeyed my commands and followed me with all his heart and always did whatever I wanted. You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made other gods for yourself and have made me furious with your gold calves. And since you have turned your back on me, I will bring disaster on your dynasty and will destroy every one of your male descendants, slave and free alike, anywhere in Israel. I will burn up your royal dynasty as one burns up trash until it is all gone.

God Has Already Made Provisions

Good morning. Before the Lord even formed man he made provisions to sustain man. God looked over every detail of the earth and put things in order. This let’s us know that God provides in ways we can’t explain or can’t deny. God knew everything we needed and everything we would have to face before he created us and it’s a blessing to know he’s already has made provisions for us. So, we should not fret or fear when we don’t see how we’re going to make it or where our next meal will come from; we should wait for the provision to manifest in our lives.

Genesis 1:29-30
Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

No Time For Fools

Good morning. The best thing to do when dealing with fools is to be silent. There’s no need in trying to argue, explain yourself or impart wisdom in them. Once a fool notices we’re silent hopefully they will shut up and go about their way.

Proverbs 26:4
Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.
