Have you ever been so tired but you continued to push yourself saying I’m good? Did you dismiss the warning signs your body was giving you just to stay awake and finish the job, the paper or finish studying?
When we are so tired to the point we can’t function that’s not good. We are of no use to ourselves or anyone else. We become like the disciples and are not able to pray for one hour. We can become so tired that we can’t even hear the voice of God.
Lately I have been so tired but I kept pushing myself; well today it all came to a crashing halt. I left work early and got straight in the bed, seven hours later I awoke only to find myself exhausted.
If someone needed me to pray for them today, they would have been out of luck and would have learned how to pray for themselves. If they needed me to minister to them today, they would have been in trouble and learned how to get a word from The Lord for themselves. Today I was to the point that I was of no use to myself or others.
We cannot afford to keep pushing and running ourselves daily without resting. We have to find a balance and no matter what it takes, take time out for ourselves to rest and relax.
That means we have to learn how to tell people NO. No, I can’t help you right now. No, I can’t make your function. No, I can’t even make it to church every time the doors of the church are open.
This may be hard for some but if your body breaks down who will take care of you?
So make it a point to get some rest so that you won’t become a weary soldier.
Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
