Growing up in school, we would come to class and the teacher would say; put everything away this is a pop quiz. The teacher would only quiz us on what we were taught. Some people were not prepared. Other people just put an answer on the paper, and some past the test with flying colors.
The bible says we are held accountable for what we know. It also says; to study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I consider myself a student of the word. So, God gave me a pop quiz last week. I told my daughter she can only drive certain places where we live. She decided to be disobedient and drove specifically where I told her not to go. She got a speeding ticket. Where we live speeding tickets are between $650-950 dollars and if you don’t pay, you go to jail until it’s paid.
Jesus said ok Tereasa, pop quiz. When you mess up and repent what does God do? I answered forgive me of my sins and throw it into the sea of forgetfulness. Where does charity start daughter? I said at home. What are parents not to do? I said provoke their children to anger. You’ve answered well. Now, I’ve showed you love, I’ve forgiven you and your sins were more costly than a speeding ticket and although you provoked me, with love and kindness have I drawn thee. In other words, God said don’t be mad at her. You have the money, it’s not going to break the bank. Let it go.
I was obedient and when I thought about it, this too shall pass and God could have dealt with my disobedience much harsher than he did. But, he showed me grace and mercy, so why couldn’t I do the same for my daughter.
Are you ready for your pop quiz? Are you ready to be held accountable for what you know? Ready or not testing time is coming.
Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
