40 Is The New 40

On Sunday I will turn 40, but I celebrated my birthday today with a huge 40 & Fabulous bash. I danced from the time I entered the place until the party was over four hours later. Every bone in my body hurts. Whoever said 40 is the new 30 or 20 lied. I can’t run two miles in 15:30 like I use to when I was 20. I can’t stay up all night long like when I was 20. When I was 30  my eyesight was much better than 40. My metabolism was much better in my 20’s and 30’s. Now if I look at food I gain weight. I got aches in places I didn’t know existed in the body. Nevertheless, I love being 40. I’m ecstatic that God allowed me to see 40yrs old. When I was 37yrs old I was writing my obituary because of a bad heart. Now I’m 40 and I’m coming out with my 4th book and things are well. So here’s to 40 and the joys and aches that it will bring. I will embrace them both, for someone wished they could see such a milestone.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

There’s Nothing New Under The Sun

We often talk about deadbeat dads and single parents, it’s nothing new. We see the first deadbeat dad in the bible. His name was Abraham. Once Isaac was weaned, Sarah told Abraham to send his son Ishmael and his mother Hagar away. Abraham gave Hagar some bread and water and sent her and Ishmael away, never to have anymore dealings with his son. Hagar thought her child was going to die because she couldn’t provide for him, but God showed up and assured Hagar that he would make Ishmael a great nation.

Today, so many women are having kids by men who leave and never have any dealings with their kids. The women have to fight for child support and they struggle to raise their kids on their own. All the while; the man is out making more kids with other women. Now we see where being a single parent comes from. There’s nothing new under the sun. Ladies, don’t get discouraged if you’re a single parent and the father of your child is nowhere to be found. Take joy in the fact that God will provide for you and your children. Just as he made Ishmael a great nation; he will make your child great. Your child will be somebody even if he/she doesn’t have their father in their life. Your child will rise to the occasion, and show the world that their mother held it down in the toughest of times. Child support will be good, but if you’re not getting it, don’t trip. God is the best supporter, the best provider, and the amount of child support you get, won’t amount to what God has in store for your children.

This doesn’t excuse the deadbeat father, but let God deal with them. When your son/daughter makes it big and they tell the world how their father wasn’t there but their mother was there all the time; that man will wish he paid support and came around to visit. I’m not talking about just making it big in sports, but when our children succeed in life period. They beat the odds, they didn’t become a statistic, and they did it all with just their mom. Therefore, ladies there’s no more need to be upset. Sit back and let God make your children great.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Goodbye

Saying goodbye can be a hard thing sometimes, especially if a loved one dies or you have to move away from the life you once knew.

However, saying goodbye can be easy, especially if you’re saying goodbye to drama, foolishness, the wrong relationship, and a horrible past.

When we say goodbye we are saying hello to something new, scary, exciting and adventurous. Today, let’s say goodbye to living worldly and hello to living Godly.

Living Godly is not always easy because it causes us to swallow our pride, turn the other cheek, bless people that don’t like us and love people when they lie on us. However, living Godly let’s us show God how much we appreciate him, his love,
long -suffering, grace and mercy, and favor.

Say goodbye to say hello.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
