Because You Don’t Listen

Yesterday I told my youngest daughter to get up and start cleaning up. She sat there for a minute, didn’t move, and acted like she didn’t hear me. Suddenly, my grandson ran to my bedroom. I followed him to see why was he going into my bedroom, and to my surprise he was taking my belt out of my jeans on the chair. I asked him, what are you doing? He said; I’m getting your belt because she ain’t listening. At first I laughed a little but my grandson was serious. I laughed because he’s three and he already knows that there are consequences in life when you choose not to listen. Then I began to think about Mary and Martha. How Martha wanted to tell Jesus on Mary because Mary chose to listen. How Martha wanted Jesus to get Mary and Jesus had to say; Martha Martha you are troubled about too many things. Mary chose the good part and that is to listen.

How many of us are not listening and responding when God tells us to do something? Just like my grandson going to get the belt, God has a way to whip us right back in shape. And with God, you’re never too old to get a beating. As long as we think we can challenge God’s authority, and think we can select what we will and won’t do of his word, we are asking for a beat down. And when we begin to say woe it’s me. Lord why are you doing this. He will reply, because you don’t listen.

What will it take for you to listen and respond to the voice of God?

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Just Listen

Sometimes when people are talking to you and pouring their heart out to you, they just want you to listen. They don’t want any feedback, they don’t want to know what you would do if you were in their situation, they just want you to listen.

We are so quick to give advice to the point we feel like being silent is awkward. Quite frankly, I like not having to answer people back all the time. I don’t mind being a sounding board for them, because I’d rather they get all of their anger and emotions out with me; than go do something stupid. Also, people don’t always need a word either. Look at the woman that was caught in adultery. Jesus just listened and was writing on the ground, he didn’t get deep with her, he didn’t prophesy to her, he just asked her a question and told her to keep it moving and stop sinning.

There will be times when you will have to speak but you need to figure out when that time is. And, when you begin to speak, don’t start accusing the person or start saying stupid stuff. In other words, don’t be like Job friends, they were quiet for seven days and on the eighth day they began to talk and couldn’t shut up.

Listening is a skill that many of us don’t have. We hear but we don’t listen. So today, when someone begins to tell you about their situation; be quiet, let them say everything and if they ask for your opinion then say something. If they don’t then be quiet.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Speak Lord

When we pray; speak to me Lord, how do we look for him to speak? Are we missing the voice of God because we think we know how he’s going to answer us?

I’ve learned to look for God through everything. The birds, the fowl of the air, children, tv, work, church, etc… We serve a multidimensional God, so why do we expect him to show up in one way and the same way all the time.

The next time you say; speak to me Lord, start listening for his voice. He doesn’t always come through prophets. He comes through at anywhere, anytime and anyplace.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

I Know More

Do you act like you know more than your boss? Do you feel the office won’t run without you? Does this make you discount everything your boss says and does?

When you have this type of attitude it doesn’t just stay at the job it spills over into your personal and spiritual life. You begin to act like you know more than everyone in your house, your inner circle and your pastor. Has it ever dawned on you that you’re not in charge for a reason ?

If you never learn how to follow, how
can God ever make you a leader. Besides, those of you claiming to be Christians are losing your witness; especially, on the job. The bible says we are to obey those that have the rule over us. The bible also says to pray for those in authority. When you’re at work your boss has the rule and authority over you. If you don’t believe it, get out of hand and see if the boss don’t fire you.

If you really know so much, quit your job, leave your church and get a new inner circle. Start your own business, start your own church and get an inner circle that will always agree with you.

At the end of the day, you are the one that has to answer to God and I know you don’t know more than him.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Take Notice

Do we ever take notice of the things around us or are we too busy complaining?

Every morning when I go outside I take notice of the birds and when I watch them and listen to them I’m amazed. One bird will say something and all the other birds will repeat it. That same bird will soar to a new height and the other birds will follow.

Everyday I take notice of Christians and when I watch them I am amazed. The bible will say how we are to conduct ourselves and we act like we haven’t read that part of the bible. That same bible provokes us to come up higher in our Christian walk but somehow we choose to waddle in our sins.

Now is the time to take notice and make changes where necessary.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

I Hear You Loud & Clear

The other day when I was communing with the Lord he told me to watch where I tread. I said ok and thought no more about it. A few days later I ran into some friends that belong to a Greek Organization and they were selling tickets to a dance for a scholarship fundraiser. I thought nothing of it and purchased a ticket.

After walking away God brought back to my remembrance be careful where you tread. I said Lord I hear you.

What the Lord was saying when he reminded me to watch where I tread was that I am not going to the party and that I just gave a donation.

Going to a party is not bad but when God says no then I must listen.

How many of you reading this has had God tell you something and you heard him loud and clear? Did you obey him or did you act like he really wasn’t talking to you?

Hear The Lord loud and clear today and it will save you a whole lot of heartache in the end.
