When people go shopping they are always looking for the best deal they can get. Some people go to stores that will price match, others drive all over town to save a penny. This is good when it’s for merchandise only, however, many people have taken this same mentality to the church.
People shop for churches that won’t preach on their sin and that seems to give them the best deal for their time. They don’t want to be corrected of their wrong doing and they don’t want to be in church for more than an hour. People are looking for sermons wrapped in a bow and it needs to be cute, cuddly and funny. They prefer the watered down gospel because the uncut gospel is too strong.
If this church can’t deliver it, they know the church up the street can deliver half of it, and the church on the other side of town can deliver the other half. Sadly, because pastors are looking for numbers and not souls they fall prey to the shoppers and deliver a watered down gospel that convicts no one to change. But, they have the numbers in the pews.
What shoppers need to realize is that you get what you pay for, and because it’s on sale doesn’t mean it’s meant for you. When you shop for a church that makes you feel good, you’re hurting yourself and your discounting your soul. But when you’re willing to pay the full price and face your sins head on, then you’re ready to see the value in why Christ died for you.
Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
