Including The Kids

I’m taking the Dave Ramsey financial course and it talks about including your children and teaching them how to save. I’ve learned if I include my children in the process then they understand vs. me just telling them how and never showing them examples.

This got me to thinking, do I include my children in prayer or do I just tell them to pray; after all, I am the preacher. Sure my kids have seen me pray and have heard me pray numerous times, but how many times have I included them and said, today the family is depending on your prayers for us. Or, have I set them down and explained prayer to them? Or, did I think it was the Sunday school teacher’s responsibility to teach my children how to pray and have a prayer life? When I include them they begin to understand the power of prayer and it gives me a confidence to know, if they ever need the Lord, need help, get in a jam, etc… Then they don’t have to wait on me, they can pray for themselves.

God said he uses the foolish things to confound the wise. Here I am learning about money, and it led me right to prayer. So, if you’re like me and have not been including your kids in the important things of God like you should or as much as you should; today is a good day to start.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

That’s Just How Much I Love You

We’ve all heard the famous song What’s Love Got To Do
With It, but have we really thought about the love of Jesus Christ?

He loves us so much that he died for us even though he knew we would betray him.

He knew we would someday use his name in vain.
He knew we would someday treat him like a sugar daddy.
He knew we would someday use him name to get money unworthily.
He knew we would someday mistreat each other and say it’s in his name.

Yet, he said, those are my children and I am willing to die for them, go to hell for them, then go to my father and intercede on their behalf.

Yes! He loves us just that much.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

You Just Never Know

How many of us wake up in the morning and really know how our day is going to go? We may think we know or we may have some idea of how we would like it to go but we just never know.

You just never know when the phone rings what’s going to be on the other end. You just never know if you will get off that phone call happy, mad, disappointed, confused or in tears.

You just never know that when you started dating that person that they would turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you or that you would have to run for your life.

You just never know that your boss has been watching you and decided to promote you ahead of your peers or fire you for taking paper, pens, and supplies home.

You just never know that while you are in fairly good health all of a sudden your health fails without warning.

See I just never knew so many good things and bad things would happen to me in life but at the end of the day I would still have joy. I just never knew two years ago February 27, 2012 I would undergo heart surgery at 37yrs old. I just never knew I would write out my own obituary just in case I didn’t make it. I just never knew that I had to think about who was going to care of my children and grandchild  if I departed this world too soon.

The only thing I did know was that I gave my life to Jesus and I didn’t wait until I got sick to recognize I needed the Savior. So since we just never know, how about we choose to give God our life today because today could be the day that our soul is required of thee.

You Just Never Know.
