A while back I was talking to someone I went to high school with. I haven’t spoken to this person in years. While we were talking I realized he had the same mindset as when we were in high school. I wanted know how are you 40yrs old and still gang banging? What made you teach your kids how to gang bang? How can you fix your mouth to say you’re still holding down the block? The city of Chicago holds their own block down.
When we come to Christ we become new creatures, old things are passed away. As time passes on and as we grow in God, our mindset should change. Our thoughts should be, how can we please God, instead of how can we remain popular. When we think positive, we tend to do positive things and succeed. When we think negative, we feel like it’s everybody else’s fault. We tend to be underachievers. We tend to succumb to the environment in which we find ourselves in.
When God said let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus; that means our thoughts should line up with the word of God. Our thoughts, should have the character of God. Our thoughts should be to edify and not to do harm. If we don’t change our thinking, how do we expect our children to think any differently? How do we expect our neighborhoods to be changed and empowered?
When we change our thinking, our lives will change, our families will change, and our environment will change.
