50/50 Rule

There are so many people who don’t like going to church because of everything that goes on in the church. As an ordained elder in the church I can truly understand how they feel. That’s where the 50/50 rule comes in at. 50% of what goes on in the church is for you and the other 50% that goes on in the church is not for you. You have to figure out which 50 you will take and which 50 you will leave. I tell this to people all the time and they look at me like I’m crazy or I’m talking bad about the church, because of my position. I just try to be as truthful as possible.

For instance, when I go to church I already have purposed in my heart what I’m going to put in the offering. Therefore, no preacher can come across the pulpit and say; the Lord told me there are 100 people in here that is to give 1,000 dollars, that’s the 50% that doesn’t belong to me. Or, when someone preaches a dynamic word and God has already given me a revelation, then they say; you can’t be blessed unless you give a certain amount of offering. Again that 50% I leave, because I already got the word. Offering should be a time of celebration, we should come singing and praising when we’re giving back to the Lord, but because of all of the ism’s and schism’s and gimmicks in the church, the offering is the most dreaded part of the service.

There are other turnoffs in the church besides the offering. I am well aware that everything that is done in the church is not always of God. The cliques in the church are not of God. The deacons fighting amongst one another is not of God. The church mothers telling young ladies they are not saved because they wear red nail polish or dresses above the knee is not of God. Fussing at church members for not being at bible study is not of God. Screaming at church members because they won’t join in with praise and worship, or jump and flip the pew when someone is preaching is not of God. When you learn the 50/50 rule your church experience will be so much better.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
