God Does Not Have An Open Door Policy

Good morning. Contrary to popular belief God does not have an open door policy. I know we’ve all heard people say; I can go to God myself. Perhaps we may have said it ourselves. In either case we’re wrong. No one gets to God without going through Jesus. The Bible declares if anyone enter into the sheepfold not through the gate then they are robbers and thieves. Jesus is the gate to the sheepfold. When we get a relationship with Jesus, we will have a relationship with God.

John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

We Have So Much To Answer For

Good morning. When people we know do wrong it’s wrong for us to acquit them and let them get away with wrong-doing. It’s equally wrong for us to condemn people we know didn’t do anything wrong. God sits high and looks low and sees everything. He doesn’t like it when we do such things. We have so much to answer for.

Proverbs 17:15
Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— both are detestable to the LORD.

Satan’s Request, Jesus Prayers

Good morning. Nothing can happen to us without God’s permission. Satan literally has to get permission from God to reek havoc in our lives. The good news is even if he gets permission he can only do so much, he can do no more or less than what God allows. Jesus our intercessor prays for us and after we’ve repented and turned back to God; we are charged with going to show our fellow man/woman the right way to take.

Luke 22:31-32
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

Sin Affects Our Whole Life

Good morning. Keeping silent about our sin doesn’t make it go away. In fact, we cannot even enjoy life because of the guilt that weighs us down from trying to hide the sin in our lives. Sometimes the silence can affect our physical health, our emotional health, and definitely our spiritual health. The best thing we can do is confess our sins to God. He is faithful and just to forgive us.

Psalms 32:3-5
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.
Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

There’s A Hiding Place In God

Good morning. God’s protection is everything. When we feel like no one cares, and everyone is out to get us; we can take refuge in God. When attacks come there’s a hiding place in God. When the enemy comes in like a flood the spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him.

Psalms 16:1
Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.

Not Experiencing Pentecost Today

Good morning. Today is Pentecost Sunday and we know that on Pentecost they were all in one place on one accord. As we look at the world today, we are far from Pentecost. If we’ve ever needed the Lord we really need him now. People are hurting and out of their hurt, they’re hurting their communities. Those of us that know the power of prayer have to bombard heaven because this world needs a Saviour. Let’s us all turn to God and seek him while he may be found.

Acts 2:1
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

God Hears Our Cry

Good morning. Life has a way to take the life out of us. With so much unrest and upheaval in the world, emotions running high and on edge; we still serve a mighty God. In times of trouble we should call on God. In times of uncertainty we should call on God. In times when it feels like the enemy is prevailing we should call on God. God is a bridge over troubled water and he hears our faintest cry.

Psalms 61:2
From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

What Else Needs To Happen Before We Turn To God

Good morning. God has been giving us warning after warning and we are still not taking heed. Disease ravaging the land, our black men being killed senselessly, millions of people filing for unemployment, women getting killed in their own houses by careless policemen, our elderly people being beat up in nursing homes, etc., and the world still won’t turn to God. What will it take for us to get the message that God is not pleased? How long do we think we can keep sinning and living like we want to without consequences? We need to take heed to the warning, or be willing to come face-to-face with God.

Amos 4:6-13 I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the LORD. I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up. People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the LORD. Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards,
destroying them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the LORD. I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the LORD. I overthrew some of you
as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the LORD. Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, Israel, prepare to meet your God.” He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth — the LORD God Almighty is his name.

Experiencing Highs & Lows

Good morning. Why is it so hard to be happy for others when they’re happy? And why do we revel in their misery? The Bible declares we should do the opposite. It’s ok to rejoice and be happy when someone else is happy. It’s equally ok to weep and mourn when someone else is weeping and mourning. We all have highs and lows in life, and it’s good to know that we have people in our lives that will be there no matter what.

Romans 12:15
Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.

Keep Crazy To Yourself

Good morning. Have you ever tried arguing with someone who answers you kindly? Have you ever tried saying harsh words to someone that was agreeing with you in a loving, non-condescending way? It’s hard talking crazy to someone who doesn’t respond back to our craziness and anger. In fact, it deflates our anger and helps us to get a grip on the situation. How can we win souls if our tempers are always flaring? No one wants to be in a spiritually dysfunctional family. We can learn from people who know how to de-escalate a problem and hear the conclusion of the whole matter before going off the deep-end.

Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare.
