What Will It Take For You Betray Jesus

Good morning. What will it take for us to betray Jesus? Before we get all self-righteousness and say we would never betray Jesus; let’s stop the lie before it comes out of our mouth. The Bible declares that the religious leaders of Jesus’ day paid one of his disciples to betray him. We have betrayed Jesus by choosing fleshly desires over him. We have betrayed Jesus by getting connected to people he never intended us to be connected to. We have betrayed Jesus by being more concerned with money flowing through the church than souls being saved. We have betrayed Jesus by not communicating with him and only coming to him when it’s convenient for us. Yet, he still loves us and is beckoning for us to change our evil ways. We have to denounce our evil ways and turn from sin. John the Baptist preached one message and one message only; Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.

John 18:3-5
The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a contingent of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove. Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked. “Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied. “I AM he,” Jesus said. (Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.)

The Grace Of God

Good morning. The Bible declares that the Lord’s anger only last but for a moment. It’s in that moment that he shows us how fed up he is with us. It’s in that moment he tells us enough is enough and chastises us for turning away from him. God doesn’t delight in having to chastise us, however; he cant let us keep running wild in our sinful undisciplined ways. He has to deal with us accordingly for the Bible declares he loves those he chastises. God is so good that after the chastisement and our repentance he restores us. He just doesn’t leave us out there wondering, he brings us back in the ark of safety. He shows us his unfailing love. He shows us his grace and mercy.

Lamentations 3:31-33
For no one is abandoned
by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.

When God Doesn’t Accept My Offering

Good morning. When we pray for God to bless us do we understand the cause and effect of what we’re asking for? God can bless anytime he wants to but most of the time he blesses us because of our obedience to him. When we disobey him, when we fail to hear his call and heed his call do we understand that same cause and effect application God applies to our life? Because we choose to do things our way in our own understanding; the effect of that is that God chooses not to accept our praise, our sacrifices, our offerings of thanksgiving, and our worship because we’re not following him or his word. So we have to make up our minds; do we want to be obedient and be blessed or deliberately be disobedient and keep doing what the Lord despise and suffer the consequences?

Isaiah 66:2-4
My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the LORD, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word. But those who choose their own ways— delighting in their detestable sins— will not have their offerings accepted. When such people sacrifice a bull, it is no more acceptable than a human sacrifice. When they sacrifice a lamb, it’s as though they had sacrificed a dog! When they bring an offering of grain, they might as well offer the blood of a pig. When they burn frankincense, it’s as if they had blessed an idol. I will send them great trouble— all the things they feared. For when I called, they did not answer. When I spoke, they did not listen. They deliberately sinned before my very eyes and chose to do what they know I despise.”

Praise God Anyhow

Good morning. When discouragement and sadness comes we need to praise the Lord. The Bible declares in all things give thanks. The Bible never said we had to be happy about everything but we can be thankful that things are not as bad as they could be; and God being the gracious God he is is keeping us through whatever we’re faced with. We can praise God in any situation because he is Savior and Lord. We can praise God through anything because he is protector and provider. We can praise God through anything because he is healer and peace. So lift up your heads and stop acting like a defeated foe. Lift up your heads and rejoice in the Lord for he is good and he’s worthy to be praised.

Psalms 42:11
Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and my God!

Don’t Respond To A Fool

Good morning. We can’t help what people call us but we can help what we answer too. We don’t have to get angry when people talk about us and insult us; for the Bible declares every tongue that rises against us shall be condemned. Being quick to blow our temper isn’t Christ-like and we should never satisfy a fool and let them think they’ve pushed our buttons. We have to learn to turn everything over to God and walk away.

Proverbs 12:16
A fool is quick-tempered,
but a wise person stays calm when insulted.

Consider Your Ways

Good morning. Have you ever wondered why so many things were coming at you negatively? Have you ever considered your ways and thought I’m the cause of all this? Have you ever thought my disobedience to God and my friendliness with the world has caused all of this. If so, you were right. We often like to think Satan or the enemy is doing these things to us and we never want to look at ourselves or our behavior. Many times the cause of our distress can be associated with the sin in our lives. We need to stop blaming others, God, and Satan for many things that happened to us and look at the man in the mirror. We need to repent and turn solely back to God. When need to render our hearts to God and stop straddling the fence. Obedience and holiness go hand-in-hand and that’s what God is calling for.

Haggai 1:6-7
You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!

Use Your Gift

Good morning. Each and every one of us has a gift given by God. We are to use our gifts to glorify him. Our gifts are not to be used just inside the four walks of a church building, they are to be used everywhere we go and in everything we do. Let’s not sit on our gifts then wonder why we’re not being used by God.

1 Peter 4:10-11
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

Don’t Rush The Return Of The Lord

Good morning. When we ask God for a Christ like mind we are asking that his desires become our desires. The Lord’s desire is that no one perish and that should be our desire too. The Lord’s desire is that the wicked turn back to him and live, that should be our desire too. We should never look at anyone and think they are useless and unworthy unless we are looking at ourselves. God’s grace loves the sinner, the unlovable, and the unworthy, so that includes us. We should thank God daily for delaying his return because it’s giving someone else a chance to be saved.

2 Peter 3:15
And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him—

Our Faith Has A Chance To Grow

Good morning. When trials come into our lives that is not the time to murmur and complain; that is not time to have a pity party and say why me Lord. That’s actually an opportunity for great joy knowing that our faith has a chance to grow. We have an opportunity to experience God’s mighty hand, to see how powerful he his. We have have an opportunity to stand on the word of God and watch the word come alive in our lives. Nowhere in the Bible does it say when trials come our way we are to faint, lose hope, change our character and act like the world, doubt God, or get worldly advice. Yet, sadly this is what many of us do at the slightest sign of trouble. Will we trust God today? Will we activate our faith and give it a chance to grow? Will we endure on today? Now is not the time to throw in the towel; for greater is he that’s in me than he that’s in the world.

James 1:2-4
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Shut Up

Good morning. It’s not good to talk too much. The Bible declares too much talking brings about sin. The Bible also declares we will give an account for every idle word we speak. In this season let’s learn to be quiet and learn to listen more. We don’t always have to say anything. We don’t always have to have the last word. Many times we can’t hear God because we’re too busy running our mouths. If we feel like we just have to talk, then we need to let the conversation be with God in prayer.

Proverbs 10:19
Too much talk leads to sin.
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
