Good morning. It seems that when calamity befalls us, the first thing we want to do is worry and complain. Job teaches us the first thing to do is worship the Lord. No matter what type of destruction dawns our doorstep, our very first instinct should be to worship the great I AM. We sin when we begin to blame God for our mishaps and start saying Lord why me; why did you let this happen? What we are really saying when we ask the Lord why did he let this happen to us is; Lord you were asleep at the wheel and if you were awake things would be better. We don’t worship God because of a feeling or for the things he gives us. We worship God for who he is. He has the whole world in his hands and he can do whatever he desires. He can allow whatever he wants. We don’t have a right relationship with the Lord if we selectively worship him. David declared “I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” David understood when he’s up he’ll bless the Lord. When death dawns his door, he’ll bless the Lord. When loved ones act out of character, he’ll bless the Lord. We must have this same attitude; no matter what comes our way our worship will not stop.
Job 1:20-22
Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!” In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.
Be blessed and continue to be a blessing
