Turning Away From God Is Not Worth It

Good morning. Now is not the time to turn our backs on the Lord. Now is not the time to start worshipping false gods, our money, our jobs, people, and anything else that’s not the true and living God. There are consequences to forgetting about God and all he’s done for us. Many of us have tried God and found out that he’s a way-maker, a promise keeper, a healer, a deliverer, a miracle worker, etc…, Since we know this, what in the world is worth leaving him for? This world has nothing good to offer us. God said he’s married to the backslider, so repent and turn back to him. Don’t get destroyed because you’ve decided the world is more important than God.

Zephaniah 1:6
And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the LORD’s guidance
or seek my blessings.”

Just Obey The Word

Good morning. Once we’ve heard the word, we have an obligation to obey and act on the word. Let’s not be one of those Christians that can quote scriptures but have raggedy lifestyles. Quoting scripture does nothing when a change in behavior doesn’t follow. Our character speaks volumes to what we believe about the word of God.

James 1:23-24
For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

The Only Guarantee

Good morning. We’ve all heard that there are no guarantees in life and that’s true; but when we are in Christ Jesus he’s given us some guarantees that we can bank on. He guaranteed us an inheritance for believing in him. He gave his life as a down-payment to save us. The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is our assurance of eternal life with all its blessings. Through the working of the Holy Spirit inside of us, our lives are being transformed and it’s just a taste of the change we will experience in eternity.

Ephesians 1:13-14
And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

No Reason To Fear

Good morning. We don’t have to fear diseases or disasters for the Lord will cover us. This doesn’t mean we are not to take the necessary precautions to keep ourselves safe. It means while things are certainly happening all around us it won’t come near us, for the God we serve is faithful and he’s a man of his word.

Psalms 91:6-7
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

God Is Not Changing

Good morning. God is not going to change the word to fit our lifestyles. God is not going to bend the rules so that we can skate by in life. Somewhere along this journey we’ve been deceived in thinking that we can say a couple of “thank you Jesus”, “praise the Lord”, “hallelujah’s”, and God will just cater to us. Don’t we know that God knows if our worship is for real or not? God does not change for anyone. God’s word is not going to change for anyone. It’s God’s way and not our way. So, we can either get right or get left.

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

I Know What The Lord Can Do

Good morning. When you know what God has done for you there’s no way you will allow someone to persuade you otherwise. The Old Saints used to sing a song; You Can’t Make Me Doubt Him, I Know Too Much About Him. No matter the giants we face in our lives they’re nothing compared to the God we serve. No one can trust God for us, we have to trust God for ourselves. When storms arise in our lives we have to be like David and recount the times when God delivered us out of much worse and know if he did back then he’ll do it again.

1 Samuel 17:34-37
But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the LORD be with you!”

Don’t Allow Trials To Change Your Name

Good morning. We should never allow trials and tribulations to change our name; no matter how much of an emotional toll they take on us and no matter how much we’ve lost. If God hasn’t changed our name neither should we. For when God changes a person name it’s either to elevate that person or demote that person. God elevated Abram, you’re no longer Abram you’re Abraham the father of many nations. God elevated Jacob, you’re no longer trickster, you’re Israel. God demoted Lucifer, you’re no longer Lucifer the bright and morning star, you’re Satan, the deceiver. We must be careful how we respond to storms because when we start doing things that God never gave us permission to do we can cause damage to ourselves and those around us.

Ruth 1:19-21
So the two of them continued on their journey. When they came to Bethlehem, the entire town was excited by their arrival. “Is it really Naomi?” the women asked. “Don’t call me Naomi,” she responded. “Instead, call me Mara, for the Almighty has made life very bitter for me. I went away full, but the LORD has brought me home empty. Why call me Naomi when the LORD has caused me to suffer and the Almighty has sent such tragedy upon me?”

Be Careful How You Treat The Poor

Good morning. What is it about poor people we don’t like? Laws are harsher for poor people. Policy’s by our governments excludes poor people and make it harder for them to acquire services. The healthcare system don’t like treating poor people because they can’t pay. Truth be told it’s too expensive to be poor. Nonetheless, we can’t turn our backs on the poor. We cannot overlook and act like they don’t exist. No matter how little we have, we have enough to help someone else. It’s only by the grace of God that we are not poor. It’s only by his grace and mercy that we have a variety of food to eat, a closet full of clothes to wear, vehicles to drive, a roof over our head, and a bank account. Let’s stop shunning the poor and help them out because God can turn the tables really quick; we can have everything today and be in the soup-line tomorrow. What a difference a day makes.

Proverbs 21:13
Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.

Shortcuts Are Not The Way

Good morning. Taking shortcuts in life is not always the best thing to do. Shortcuts can be costly and lead us to poverty and sometimes we may not be able to recover from it. When we sit and plan we can count up the cost. Incorporating God in our plans and following his direction will keep us from headaches and asking for handouts down the road.

Proverbs 21:5
Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

Praying And Singing Amidst Adversity

Good morning. No matter what situation we find ourselves in we can always pray and sing a song of praise. Whether we’re being persecuted for being Christians, lied on for speaking the truth, hated by family members, co-workers, and friends; we cannot allow their behavior towards us to make us lose our joy. The enemy can do no more or no less to us than what God allows him to. So when we find ourselves in adverse situations we need to start praying and we should always have a song of praise on our lips.

Acts 16:25
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
