When Life Seems Bitter

Good morning. Sometimes life can be a bitter pill to swallow when we only focus on the wrong and injustice we’ve suffered. When we are in Christ Jesus life is sweet even when things are not looking good. We must continue to trust God no matter what life brings our way. The old saints used to sing a song “I will trust in the Lord until I die”. Situations and circumstances don’t dictate our trust in God. Our relationship with the Lord allows us to look at life with the glass half-full and be positive and know; that all things work together for the good of them who love the Lord and are the called according to his purpose.

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Love & Pray For Your Enemies

Good morning. Sometimes we have difficulty loving the people that say they love us. So when Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who do us wrong, there’s some hesitation and a whole lot of disobedience. We tell Jesus things like; “I’m not there yet Lord”, as if he’s going to say ok whenever you get ready. Being a child of God means that we don’t get to react like the world. Being a child of God means we respond the way Jesus would respond and that we imitate Christ on a daily basis. We can’t lift Jesus up by holding grudges and hating our enemy. Jesus said with love and kindness have I drawn thee.

Matthew 5:43-48 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Be Careful What You Sign Your Name Too

Good morning. The Bible teaches us that we should only go so far to help someone financially. We should not be co-signing no one else’s debt, for there are consequences when we can’t pay for it. Everything doesn’t require a loan, sometimes people just need to be patient and save their money for what they want. The next time that family member or friend needs help to get a car, loan, tuition, house, etc. and they want you to co-sign for it; lead them to the word of God.

Proverbs 22:26-27 Don’t agree to guarantee another person’s debt or put up security for someone else. If you can’t pay it, even your bed will be snatched from under you.

The Word Is Life

Good morning. Food only sustains our body and gives us energy to keep going. The word of God gives us life and helps us live. If you’re not in the word of God then you’re really not living, you’re just being sustained by natural food.

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Don’t Become Spiritually Dull

Good morning. Now is not the time to be doubting God and letting people turn you from what you’ve learned from the Bible. We need to tap into the Holy Spirit so that we don’t become spiritually dull. The Holy Spirit is every believer’s most unmistakable proof of salvation and greatest guarantee of eternal glory. So hold-fast to Christ and live by God’s word and not the world rules.

Galatians 3:1-5 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain? So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?

Fruit Bearer

Good morning. Jesus chose and appointed his disciples. This appointment was their marching orders to become lifelong disciples and not superficial believers; and it’s every Christian’s marching orders as well. Jesus wants believers to bear fruit- that is, live out the gospel, share the gospel, and win many souls to Christ. He also wants our fruit to last and endure to the end..

John 15:15-17 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit —fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.

Fake Faith & False Repentance

Good morning. There are times when we will experience God’s anger. Many people don’t speak or preach about this, but God is sick of our sins. In Jeremiah he told Judah and those dwelling in Jerusalem that when calamity comes upon them he won’t even hear their prayers because they kept on sinning. On top of that he told them they worshipped all these other gods and they won’t help them either. The icing on the cake was when he told Jeremiah not to pray for them because he wouldn’t hear Jeremiah’s prayer concerning them. Let’s think about this for a moment. We can make God so mad that he won’t even hear us when we cry. He knows fake faith and false repentance when he see’s it and hears it. Many times we only say we’re sorry when we get caught doing wrong and truth be told we’re only sorry we got caught. Why is it when calamity comes we cry out to God for a minute then we are right back to business as usual. Play time is over, get right or get left.

Jeremiah 11:9-14 And the Lord said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers. Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them. Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble. For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal. Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

Waiting With Great Expectations

Good morning. Did you know that God has prepared some things for us that we can’t even imagine? Because his word is true we can wait for him with great expectations. Because we know God’s track record, no one can fool us into thinking that God won’t come through for us. If God tells you he has something for you then you can rejoice and wait on it.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

How Deep Is Your Love

Good morning. How deep is your love for God? Do you love him because he gives you material things? Do you just say you love him on Sundays when you’re in church because that’s the thing to do? Whenever we say we love someone our actions show it. We get giddy inside at the mention of their name. When we see them they make us smile and blush. When was the last time we were giddy about God? Or at the mention of his name we just couldn’t stop smiling or blushing? When was the last time we said; I love the Lord so much I can’t cheat on him, I can’t be out here wilding out and he hear about it? Love is an action word. When you love someone not only do you say it but you show it in your deeds.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
