This is not the first time you’ve been in a jam or had trouble to arise in your life. Just like Jesus fixed the trouble back then, he will fix the trouble now. Don’t fret, but delight yourself in the Lord and commit your ways to him. God is going to bring everything to past. David said; he had fainted unless he had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Often my youngest daughter and my grandson find themselves arguing with people about the subject of Santa Claus. I’ve taught them that there is no such thing as Santa Claus. I refuse to go to work early, work hard all day and be on-call 24/7, buy them presents then give the credit to Santa Claus. No way! I tell them it’s by God’s goodness that you have presents because he allowed me to have a job. People Santa Claus didn’t give you a job, doesn’t pay your bills, or buy your kids presents. So please stop giving him credit and give God all the credit.

Today I treated my youngest daughter and my grandson to fine dining. Initially we were just going to a regular restaurant but they were closed and the only thing open was fine dining, you know the kind of restaurant where you’re not looking for the waiter, the waiter is catering to your every need, there is no steak sauce in the restaurant because the chef cooks it to perfection; that kind of fine dining. Before we left the house my daughter said; are you going dressed like that? I said yes, I’m relaxing today. Anyways I made sure her and my grandson was dressed to impress and I kept on my jogging suit. When we got to the restaurant we made sure to be seated in the VIP section and everything was set. I told my daughter she could order off any menu she wanted; of course my 4yr old grandson just wanted to know do they have pizza, burgers and chicken nuggets. While eating my daughter said; mom this is my first time at a fine dining restaurant but there are many more in my future. I told her you better believe it. 

Many of us are looking at the here and now and the situations that presently affect our lives. We are like my grandson, we are so used to the familiar that we cannot imagine anything better. However, we need to be like my daughter and see better for ourselves. We need to see that everything may not be as well as we would like it to be right now; but better is coming. The old saints used to say; this too shall pass and trouble don’t last always. You have to trust and believe that God didn’t bring you this far to leave you.

Last night my son waited until the grocery store closed and I was in the bed to tell me he had to make a Mexican dish for extra credit and it was due this morning. I asked him why do you always wait until the last minute to tell me you need something. I laid in bed for a while because I knew I didn’t go grocery shopping and there was nothing I could make. However, I got up and began to look in the freezer, and there was some chicken, then I looked in the cabinets and there was some black beans, rice, and canned diced tomatoes. I looked in my spice cabinet and there was some cumin, pepper, salt and a little taco seasoning. I slow cooked that chicken and shredded it and added it to the rest of the ingredients and we had a Mexican dish. My son called me from school and was like; mom they ate it up.

I said all of that to say this; sometimes we are always praying to God to give us more, and he’s telling us to use what we already have. Many times we think if we don’t have an abundance than we don’t have enough, that is so far from the truth. When we have Jesus we have more than enough. So stop looking at the little you have and stop thinking you can’t make it; bless it, and let God stretch it for you.

Since we are in the season of giving and many people are saying give love for Christmas; it’s impossible to give love without giving forgiveness. Many of us have hard hearts towards some of our family members and friends and we are Christians. God is not pleased with the fact that we cannot get over how someone treated us or did us wrong. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus let’s remember his death. He was nailed to a cross for us and he got over it. He was pierced in his side and he got over it. A crown of thorns was placed on his head and he got over it. They beat him, spit on him, made him carry his own cross and made him unseemly to look at, yet he got over it. It would be a shame to keep going around like we got it all together all the while harboring unforgivness in our hearts and bust hell wide open. If we won’t forgive, neither will our father in heaven forgive us. So what are you really giving this season?

If everything you’ve been through has gotten you closer to the Lord, then count it all joy. If everything you’ve been through caused you to have a prayer life, then count it all joy. If everything you’ve been through has made you cry out to God, then count it all joy. Trials only come to make us strong. The devil didn’t do it, God allowed it to happen.

God could have handed us over to death, but he blocked it. Many of us know we should be dead, sleeping in our graves, but by the grace of God we’re still here. Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. While you’re going throughout your day and you begin to walk in pride, remember it is of the Lord’s mercies that you are not consumed. When you start looking down on other people, remember you are only two weeks away from being in an unemployment line and it is of the Lord’s mercies that you are not consumed. When you start thinking you’ve cheated death, know that it is of the Lord’s mercies that you are not consumed. Not by might, nor by power, but my spirit says the Lord of host (Zecheriah 4:6). Thank God for the things he’s blocked in your life today.

Last night I was extremely tired so I went to bed early. I told my kids before I went to bed to clean up the house; they said we will do it. Well when I woke up this morning for my 4am run, my house looked like a tornado ran through it. I woke them up! They were not happy, they were complaining they had to go to school and work and I really didn’t care. Just like I woke them up to clean-up the house, God is telling us to wake up and repent. He doesn’t care what else is on your agenda, he wants your soul saved. It’s not his will that none shall perish. How long will you sleep on God? How long will you say; tomorrow I will get saved, tomorrow I will get right, tomorrow I will give my all to Jesus? Tomorrow is today! If you knew that today your soul was required by the Lord and your number is up, would you get right with God? Sadly, someone is going to die and go to hell when they don’t have too. Don’t delay another second, minute or hour in getting right with God.

God’s love says; I forgive and forget, but man’s love says; I forgive you but I won’t forget.

God’s love says; repent and turn from your wicked ways, but man’s love says; prove to me that you are sorry.

God’s love says; I’m married to the backslider, but man’s love says; let’s get a divorce since you can’t act right.

God’s love says; whosoever will let them come, but man’s love says; you have to look the part, act the part, and dress the part to be a part.

God’s love says; you are a new creature behold old things are passed away, but man’s love says; I must throw it in your face every chance I get that you messed up.

Aren’t you so glad that God doesn’t love us the way that man loves us. Aren’t you so glad that God believes in us and gives us chance after chance to get it right. Aren’t you so glad that God decides to give us grace and mercy, when man decides to cut us off. If you want to know what true love is, get in a relationship with God and I promise you you won’t never have to worry about him mistreating you, disrespecting you or putting your business out on front street. He will love you, care for you and cover you.

God never made you to be like anyone else. You were created in his image and likeness, so if you want to be like someone, be like him. You are unique and you are just the way God wanted you to be. Besides, trying to be like someone else is boring and hard work. When you can be happy being you, that says a lot about you.
