Count Your Blessings

Do we ever stop to count our blessings and name them one by one? I was talking to a guy and all he was doing was complaining. I must admit, to hear a man complain was really getting on my last nerves. He was complaining about his job, about where he lives, etc. I began to tell him, why don’t you thank God you have a job and that you make a lot of money. Thank God you have the house you live in, besides you’re not paying for it. He didn’t see my point. When we count our blessings and start naming them one by one, we won’t have time to complain. Besides, every time we complain about what we don’t have and what somebody else has; we’re telling God he’s not able to supply our needs. We’re telling God he’s not able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think. Now, is that what you really feel about God? If so, keep complaining. If not, count your blessings.

What’s The Use

Do you ever feel like living a saved life is in vain? Do you ever say; what’s the use in keep trying to live right, when sinners are having fun and don’t seem to have many problems. Do you feel like God ignores the injustice that persists in our world? Well this is what the word of God says in those moments you feel like that. 

Psalms 37:1-4​ Fret not thyself because of evildoers,neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Enough said.

Decent and Order

The bible says; to do everything decent and in order. God gave us a perfect example of how to do it. In the Old Testament God was at work. In the New Testament God brought Jesus on the scene and Jesus was at work. Now that Jesus is gone the Holy Spirit is on the scene. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all know their rolls and never get in each other lane. The Holy Spirit dwells on the inside of us, we pray in the name of Jesus and Jesus mediates for us to God.  You want order in your life. Look at the Trinity.

Stop Trying To Be Something You’re Not

Why do we try to be something we’re not? God has made each one of us different and unique. He’s given each one of us a unique talent, gift, and special set of skills. However, it seems like we don’t like what God has given us; therefore, we try to be somebody else. In the bible; Paul was casting out demons. The seven sons of Sceva, a priest and a Jew saw this and tried to be like Paul. When they tried to cast out the demon, the demon spoke to them and said; Paul I know, Jesus I know, but who are you. Then that demon tore them up, beat them down and stripped them naked. 

It’s dangerous trying to be something you’re not. Learn how to embrace who you are. No one else can be you. You are the best you there is. Besides, when you’re trying to be something you’re not; you’re telling God that he failed when he made you. You’re telling God that you’re not pleased with his design of you, you’re upset with the manufacturer. God didn’t make a mistake when he made you. You are just focused on the wrong thing and the wrong people. Put your focus back on God and stop trying to be something you’re not.

It’s Not As Bad As It Seems

No matter what you’re going through in life, it’s not as bad as it seems. Even if your situation seems dead, stinky, unreconcilable, etc… As long as blood is running warm in your body, and you know how to pray, then your situation is not as bad as it seems. Now is not the time to let the enemy play with your mind. You have to renew your mind daily with the word of God. Don’t give up on God or hang up on God because he has put you on hold. He will get back to you in his appointed time. Further more, stop having amnesia. If God has done anything for you before, he can and will do something for you again. He didn’t bring you this far just to leave you. The bible says; no good thing will I withhold from you. God knows what’s best for you. He has the blueprint to your life, so please let the master builder have his way with the plans for your life. The bible also says in Jeremiah 29:11; For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. So, that lets us know that things are not as bad as they seem.

What’s Your Name

The bible says; in the book of Mark; there was a man with an unclean spirit sitting at the tombs cutting himself and crying by day and night. When Jesus came on the scene the man met him and Jesus cast that spirit out. When Jesus asked what is your name, he said Legion for we are many. Legion is a number. The only people that answer their names with a number is people that are locked up in jail. You have to know who you are and whose you are. You can’t allow your problems to define who you are. When people ask you your name, you shouldn’t respond with burdens, defeated, cast down, and poor. When the enemy ask you what’s your name, your response should be my name is victory, more than a conquer. When the enemy asks who are you, your response should be I’m a child of the most high God and I’m fearfully and wonderfully made, I’m the head and not the tail, I’m above and not beneath, I’m the lender and not the borrower. Know what your name is and don’t answer to anything other than that.

Get Busy

How many of us are sitting on the gifts that God has given us?  Why does it seem like we’re waiting on some magical moment for God to say; okay use your gift now. Our gifts will be a help to someone else. I never thought writing books would be a help to someone, but now I have friends writing books and I’m able to walk them through the process. Two of my friends have already published their books and my other two friends are in the process of publishing. I’m so excited that God chose me to help them. The gift you’re sitting on could be the gift that helps someone reach their destiny. The bible says; in 2 Timothy 1:6-7 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 

Don’t be fearful to use what God has given you. He knows exactly why he gave you that gift. You are fearfully and wonderfully made in the sight of the Lord. Your gift is not for everyone, but for those who it is for; they’re looking for it, they need it, and they want it. Besides, you’re blocking your on blessing when you don’t use what God has placed inside of you.

Tithes

Do you pay your tithes or are you one of the thieves that rob God? Do you have the testimony that you can’t afford to pay your tithes; yet, you have the latest fashion clothes, and the latest in material things? Do you sleep well at night knowing that you stole from God? When we profess to be Christians and we don’t pay our tithes to our local church, the bible calls us robbers and thieves. When we do pay our tithes, God says to prove him. He says he will open up a window from heaven and pour us out a blessing that we won’t have room to receive. In other words, you are going to have to call someone to help share in your blessing. The bible also says; that God will rebuke the devour for our sakes . The devour can be anything that comes up against the child of God. Make up in your mind today; that you will no longer rob and steal from God. That you are going to pay your tithes and watch God take care of the rest. It’s not about giving the preacher your money. God holds the preacher accountable if they don’t be good stewards over what the church gets. It’s about your heart. Where your heart is, your treasure lay.

Get Yourself Together

We’ve all had some bad things happen to us. However, we don’t have to stay in the role of the victim. It’s time to move from victim to conquer. When you keep playing the role of the victim, you’re giving power to the person that harmed you, hurt you, stole your joy and happiness. In the bible when Moses died and Joshua was mourning his death, after 30 days God told Joshua to get up and get moving. In other words, God said get yourself together because I have work for you to do. 

That’s what we need to do. We need to get up from our place of despair, helplessness, and defeat and get moving. How many opportunities are we going let pass us, because we’re in a low place? How much longer are we going to say woe it’s me, before another tragic thing happens? God is waiting on us to make up in our minds, that no matter what, we are going to press on.

I’m Sorry

Saying I’m sorry is one of the hardest words for us to say. We don’t like to apologize to people especially if we feel we’ve done nothing wrong. Somehow, we feel that if we say sorry; then we’re showing signs of weakness. In actuality, saying sorry could end a lot of disputes. Admitting that we were wrong in some instances could bring much needed healing to the other person. Life is too short to be walking around holding grudges, being in disputes, or planning revenge on someone. Personally, I’d rather say I’m sorry, will you forgive me, I messed up and now can we move on. How is it you will tell God you’re sorry, but won’t tell the people you see everyday you’re sorry? The bible says; if you’ve did it unto the least of them, you’ve done it unto me. So today; apologize quickly, after you apologize, laugh about how it almost destroyed your friendship but you didn’t let the enemy win. Laugh about how it almost destroyed the family but the family is still standing strong. We cannot give the enemy no foot hole in any area of our lives.
