Life’s Rollercoaster

Today I took my kids to Disneyland. My grandson was so excited, all he wanted to know is; what time is the bus leaving and why haven’t we started to move. Once we got to the park, he was pumped and ready to go. We got on a few rides then we got on the rollercoaster.  As long as it was moving up he was fine. As soon as it started to drop and twist and turn he was’t happy, started crying, and wanted off. All the while I was holding him and telling him; I’m not letting you go, everything is going to be alright.

Isn’t that how we get? We start this journey strong, we’re excited, everything is going as planned. Then obstacles come, hurdles come, then we start to doubt and fear. As long as things were going well we told of the awesomeness of God. As soon as they went south, we said; we don’t think this is what God wanted me to do.

Just because God told you to do something, doesn’t mean obstacles won’t come. He said no weapon formed against you shall prosper. He never said the weapon wouldn’t form. So ride the rollercoaster of life, but hold on and know that God got you in every situation.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

I’m The One

Have you ever had some good things happen to you and  everything go the way you planned it? Remember when you got the big head and said that you were a self-made man or woman? Remember when you said I make my own money and I don’t need no one?

Do you remember when God told you; don’t get it twisted? God said; every good and perfect gift comes from me. God said; I’m the one that kept you when you couldn’t keep yourself. I’m the one that made you, you didn’t make yourself. I’m the one that allowed you to make the money. I the Lord am God and besides me there is none other. Just when you think you are doing everything on your own, remember, I’m the one.

No matter how high you get, you always got to look up and acknowledge that there’s nobody like Jesus.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Cry

There are many different reasons why someone may shed tears. There are tears of joy, sadness, anger, pain, discomfort, etc… No matter what the tears are for, cry. Often times when we hear little kids cry, we want them to shut up; they’re crying for a reason. Even when we go to funerals, we have the audacity to tell the grieving family, don’t cry. At times we can be so insensitive to other people tears. Some people cry when they are angry, and if you’re on the receiving end of that anger, you better watch out. Their tears are a sign that they’ve reached the point of no return. On the other hand; when it comes to crying, no one ever says to a proud mother or father, don’t cry, when their daughter is getting married, their child graduates ,or their son makes it to the pro’s.

God gave us tear ducts for a reason; to cry. Crying is not a sign of weakness as most people think. Crying is a natural emotion, that we should not be ashamed to express. Even Jesus cried. Just like we can’t control anyone else’s behavior, we cannot control anyone else’s emotions. Life has a way of making all of us cry. No matter how hard you are, no matter how emotionless you are; God has a way of humbling everyone. So when the tears start to flow, let them flow.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Keep It Moving

Everyone has setbacks in life, it doesn’t mean it’s the end of world. On this journey we will have disappointments, delays, and denials. Don’t get discouraged, because if we keep it moving then we are sure to have some comebacks, come ups, and conquest. Anytime we are trying to achieve something, we need to be prepared to meet opposition. We need to realize that everyone doesn’t want to see us succeed in life. We need to realize that some people will intentionally try to hurt us, stop us, and put road blocks up in front of us.

That’s when we have to say; greater is he that’s in me, than he that’s in the world. That’s when we have to say; no weapon formed against me shall prosper. That’s when we have to say; if God be for uswho can be against us. It’s in those trying times of life that we have to learn how to encourage ourselves. Instead of looking for a pat on the back, we need to learn how to pat our own selves on the back. We need to learn how to affirm our own selves, because we may never get it from the crowd.

So, no matter what happens on this journey, keep it moving. Keep it moving when things are good and when things are bad. Praise God through it all, when you feel like it and when you don’t.  No one can stop you but you.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Focus

Often times we have the tendency to focus on the wrong thing. We often focus on the negative things and never look at the positive things. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have we need to focus on our blessings.

Instead of focusing on not getting the promotion, thank God for having a job. Instead of focusing on not getting the house, thank God that you don’t have the debt of a mortgage. Instead of not getting the brand new car, thank God you got ride and it’s not worth stealing. Instead of not having a husband or wife, thank God you’re not worrying all night where they may be. Start focusing on all of the good that’s in your life. You know the good you take for granted, like; your life, health, the activity of your limbs, your sound mind, your kids, family, etc… God has been too good to you for you to throw in his face what you don’t have. That’s just like you bending over backwards to provide for your kids, and one of them have the nerve to say; what you’re doing isn’t good enough. That’s what you tell God when you focus on what you don’t have.

Change your focus.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

One Word

All we need is one word from the Lord and our situations will turn around. It’s good to be able to talk to a friend about what’s going on in our lives, but it’s better to have a word from the Lord. However, when the storms of life are raging, we put God on the bottom of the totem pole. We go to this person and that person. We call our mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, friend, etc… We hear what they have to say, we weigh everyone’s opinion, then we decide to see what God has to say. I know we value our family opinions, but when we’re in a desperate situation, who cares what they think. We need a word from the Lord.

Being in a desperate situation has a way of making us close to God. We are not looking for nobody to pray for us. We are praying for ourselves. We’re praying when we get up, on our way to work, at work, in the bathroom, etc… God knows our voice well when we’re in a desperate situation. But, we don’t just have to be in a desperate situation to get a word from the Lord. We need a word from him daily, to keep us and to guide us. Whatever is going on in your life today, go talk to the Lord and see what he has to say.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

When People Think They Know You

People may have heard of you, seen you somewhere before, know some of your mutal friends, go to your church, live in your neighborhood,  or work in your office, etc… This doesn’t mean that they know you. However, they think they know you, so they think they can talk to you or about you any kind of way. They think they know your character. They think they can describe what type of person you are. You have absolutely no type of relationship with them. You don’t even consider them as acquaintances. Yet, they speak of you as if ya’ll are homies from Wyoming.

Sadly, people act like this when it comes to Jesus. They have no relationship with him, they spend no time with him, they don’t know what his word says, and yet they’re always talking about him any kind of way. They heard of him, but they don’t know him. They think they know how God should respond in every situation that happens in the world. So, they say stuff like; if God is so loving, why did he let this happen. Or, some of them say; why is there so much war and fighting in the world. If they knew God and they knew his word, then they would know that his word says; there will be wars and rumors of wars and nations will rise against other nations, and kingdoms against other kingdoms. If they knew God, they would know his ways are not like our ways or his thoughts like our thoughts.

Bottom line, before you put your mouth on somebody, know them. If you’ve heard something about them, before you speak out of turn, go asked them yourselves. If you don’t know them but want to get to know them, build a relationship with them. Lastly, God is an open book, everything you want to know about him is in the bible. Read it, and stop saying foolish things when it comes to him.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Show Stopper

Many of us know people who think they are show stoppers. They think things cannot get done if they don’t do it. They think we will crumble and fall if they walk out or quit. They think the world revolves around them. The military has a great way to show people that they are not show stoppers. If you’re in the military and you die today, you will be replaced by the morning. Nothing and no one stops the show. I’ve seen this a lot in churches. People think if they leave the choir then it won’t sound good without them. All they did was make room for someone else to use their gift.  Sometimes we enable these people behavior, by begging them to stay or pumping their heads up making them believe the world really does revolve around them.

If you know someone like this, in order for them to stop this behavior you have to show them that they don’t stop the show. Show them it can be done without them. Show them you can thrive without them in your life. Show them life goes on with or without them. One of two things will happen; either they will get over themselves and become a team player, or they will continue to act the same. You are the one that has to decide if they will stop your show or not.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

The Breakup

Some of you are wondering why the relationships you were in had to end. Not realizing for one second that the person you were in relationship with, never interviewed to be in your life, never filled out an application to be in your life, they just showed up. They were never in God’s plan when it came to your life, therefore, God allowed it to get real crazy and you had to decide to let it go. Had not the situation got real crazy, you would still be in the relationship. But, because God will not allow you to abort your destiny, he helped to orchestrate the breakup. So, stop trying to put the relationship on life support. Stop trying to resuscitate it. It’s dead, never to be risen again, so bury it.

God has something better in store for you, but first he just needs to spend time with you and you alone. Therefore, don’t be so quick to run out and get someone else. After you’ve spent time with God, and he’s shaped you and molded you; you will not just let just anybody in your life. They will have to qualify to be in your life. Whoever doesn’t meet the qualifications can’t enter. Spending time with God will make you the best inspector there ever was. So, embrace the breakup, endure the pain of the breakup, after this; you will praise God for the breakup.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

The Goodness Of The Lord

When all hell is breaking loose in our lives, it’s good to reflect on the goodness of the Lord. When we reflect on God’s goodness and began to thank him for what he’s already done; it makes our present problems seem small. When we reflect on the goodness of the Lord in the midst of our problems, we confuse the enemy. Because, it’s hard to reflect on the goodness of God and not start praising and worshipping him. When we think how it could have been the other way, but God! When we think of how we were on our way to hell, but God! When we think of how some of our friends are dead, buried in their graves, and yet we are still alive but by the grace of God. That’s enough right there to shout.

The bible says; oh taste and see that the Lord is good. He’s sweeter than the honey on the honeycomb. Can’t nobody do us like Jesus. Jesus will do what your mama won’t or can’t do. Jesus will be there when your father forsakes you. Jesus will stick closer than a brother. He’s a friend to the friendless and mother to the motherless. Somebody else knows him as a lawyer, they had some charges and when they went to court, Jesus dropped the charges. Somebody knows him as a healer, and when the doctors did all they could do, Jesus said; step aside, let me show you what medicine can’t do but what I can do. Somebody knows him as a provider. When they didn’t know how they were going to eat, get to work, pay that bill; God provided. He let them find five dollars, had someone buy their monthly groceries, had someone to have an appointment by their job at the same time they had to be to work. Oh! When we think of the goodness of the Lord, our souls should rejoice.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
