Today my youngest daughter and I were talking and she said; her brother’s mad because I like her more. I quickly explained to her, it’s not that I like you more, I just spend more time with you because you’re young. She replied; I like for you to spend time with me, I don’t care about you buying me things or giving me things; I just want your time. That got me to thinking. If God didn’t shower us with material things would we care about him spending time with us? Or, are we just sticking around to see what’s the next thing we can have?
In the bible when Jesus fed the five thousand people, he knew many of them wasn’t there for him to spend quality time with them, they wanted to see what they could get. The bible says; seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these other things will be added unto you. Now our response should be: Lord more of you and less of me.
