Respect Yourself

Everyone keeps complaining they are not getting any respect. When you don’t respect yourself, how do you expect other people to respect you. When you talk derogotory about yourself then someone else says the exact same thing; why are you getting mad? They are just saying what they heard you say. In order to gain respect, you have to give respect. The way you carry yourself says a lot about you. If you go around cursing all the time, then say you’re a Christian, and you’re wondering why no one will come to church when you invite them. Maybe, they think you’re the church and they want no parts of it. If you’re always running women and wondering why you can’t find a good woman; maybe people are tired of playing games and they don’t want to waste their time with a boy trapped in a man’s body. 

When you respect yourself, you set standards for yourself. When you respect yourself, you don’t conform just to make others happy. When you respect yourself, you know your value and your worth. When you respect yourself, others will respect you.

You Can Make A Difference

Everyday I speak with different individuals and I let them know; no matter what their position or status is they can make a difference. Many of them feel like they have no voice, because they are not in a position of authority and that no one will listen. Many people in church feel this way also. They think if they don’t have a title or position in the church, then no one will listen to what they have to say. Never be afraid to voice your opinion. Just know when, where and how to do it. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment is not the best time, wait for calm to come. Also, when you come with an opinion about the problem, bring a solution to try to help fix it. Remember, one voice can make a difference; it’s how you choose to use your voice, is what really counts. Your voice can change someone’s life for the better. Never discount yourself because you think you have nothing to offer. We all have the ability to offer change, it’s just that change is hard for everyone; especially when we’ve been doing it one way for so long. Make up in your mind, that today, I will make a difference and I will be the difference.

Turn Back To God

As we look on the t.v. we see so much unrest in the world. American cities look like war zones, earthquakes around the world, famine in other parts of the world, etc…we’ve passed laws that clearly go against the word of God. What the world has actually done is turn it’s back on God. We are a nation that has forgotten about God and we need to turn back to him. 2Chronicles 7:14 says; if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, pray, and seek my face, and turn from their ways; then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

If we want to see our families healed, our neighborhoods healed, our cities healed and our nation healed; we need to start praying, seeking God’s face and turning from our wicked ways. We all have some wicked ways that are not pleasing to God. How much more destruction, death and calamity does God have to show us before we turn back to him?

Free To Worship

How many of us take for granted that we are free to worship Christ? We don’t have to hide our bibles. We don’t have to have underground church. We can call upon the name of the Lord whenever we want to. With all that be said; why do we allow the enemy to hold us hostage if we are free in Christ? Why do we allow the enemy to shut down our prayers and praise? We need to take every advantage we have to praise God. There are people in other countries who wish they could praise God openly and freely. The bible says; let everything that have breath praise God. Everything that God created praises him but humans. The birds praise him by chirping. The animals praise him by doing what they do. However, when it comes to us humans, we only want to praise God when everything is going well in our lives. That’s not biblical. We cannot praise God on conditions. Just like he loves us unconditionally, we have to praise him unconditionally. We need to stop giving up our freedom to worship God because of situations and circumstances.

Everything To Jesus

Do we really give everything to Jesus or do we only give him what we can’t handle? The Lord doesn’t want you to try to figure things out because he’s already worked it out. He sees what you’re going through, but he’s waiting for you to come to him. Jesus wants you to dialogue with him. No matter how small or big the problem. When we give everything to Jesus, it helps build our faith. My youngest daughter had to sing at church today but she had a sore throat. She didn’t want to go to church. I told her; pray and ask Jesus to heal her throat and when it’s her turn to sing her throat will be fine. She was skeptical, so I asked her; do you believe in God? She said yes. Then I asked her; do you believe Jesus is depending on you today to minister to the people? She said yes. I said well this is your first test of faith. Pray and believe God will do it for you. She followed my instructions, and needless to say, she rocked. She sang and yes I said sang, unto the glory of God and her throat was fine. 

What things in life are trying to stop us from giving Jesus our everything? Just like my daughter wanted to let a sore throat stand in her way, what are we letting stand in our way? We need to always remember there’s nothing, I mean absolutely nothing to hard for God.

Giving Up Is So Easy

There comes a point in everyone’s life, when we feel like what we are trying to accomplish is not worth it. Whether it be trying to hold a relationship together, trying to finish school for a better job, trying to keep our loved ones off drugs, trying to keep family members from making the same mistakes we made, etc… We feel this way because of pressures, stress and we don’t see any progress or light at the end of the tunnel. 

Giving up seems like the logical choice and the easy choice. And, we always have that one person telling us that there’s nothing wrong with giving up. But, there’s something very wrong with it. We cannot give up at the first sign of trouble or hardship. When family members don’t do what we like we still have to try. When school is beating out brains in, we still have to try. When the pressure is on us, we have to press our way. It’s called long suffering, enduring, holding fast. If everything came easy nothing would be worth it. It’s when you’ve struggled for it, worked hard for it, sweated for it, lost sleep for it; that giving up is not so easy to do. As a matter of fact, it’s not even an option. 

So continue to press, continue to strive,  and continue to work hard; I see a breakthrough coming your way.

Is It I

When Jesus told his disciples that one of them would betray him they said; is it I. When we woke up this morning did we think that we would betray Jesus? Did we think our actions would crucify him afresh on the cross? Do we ever ask Jesus; Lord am I hurting you or betraying you today? We have to be very careful, because our words, thoughts and actions could betray the very Jesus we say we love. Our words, thoughts and actions could betray the very Jesus we say we trust; the very Jesus that calls us friend. We don’t betray our natural friends, or our mother or father, so let’s not betray our heavenly friend and father.

You Can’t Handle It Right Now

Have you been praying for something and God hasn’t answered you yet? Or did God say; no, not right now? Have you ever thought that you can’t handle what it is you’re asking for? Sometimes in life we may want something, but we need to grow more before we can get it. So, don’t give up on your hopes and dreams. Continue to allow God to mature you; so when he says yes, you will have the maturity and character to  handle what it is you’ve asked for.

What You Do In The Dark

Growing up my mother would always say; what you do in the dark will come to light. She was right, but she always used this statement in a negative way,just as many of us do. But, have we ever looked at this statement in a positive light? How about when you tarried before the Lord late in the midnight hour and he blessed you, delivered you and brought you out. How about when you had midnight prayer with just you and Jesus, and he prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies. How about when you studied the word of God all night long, just to get a deeper relationship with God. Now people are trying to figure out how you’re making it, how you’re surviving and thriving. Now, people are wondering what’s different about you. They don’t realize what you’ve been doing doing in the dark with God, is now manifesting itself in the light.

Come Clean With God

Sometimes when you pray, do you pray holding back what’s really going on? Do you think that God is oblivious to what’s going on with you? Jesus is the ultimate fixer and he already knows what the problem is; he’s just waiting on you to come clean with him. The bible says; all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, therefore, stop letting the guilt and shame of sin hold you back from true repentance. The reason why so many people don’t hurry up and come clean with God, is because they’ve allowed the enemy to tell them that they’ve messed up too bad and forgiveness is not coming to them. Free your mind, spirit and soul by coming clean with God. As soon as you come clean, a weight will be lifted and the enemy won’t be able to hold anything over your head.
