Momma May Have

Older children who are abled body and able to work, have a habit of wanting their parents to continue to finance them. My son is in high school and he works, but sometimes he likes to put other things before work. I often tell him responsibility starts now. He always says; mom it’s no big deal if I work or not. I quickly remind him, a man that doesn’t work doesn’t eat, and I’m not raising you to be a shiftless black man. My son thinks because I work and he has all these luxuries in life that I’m going to always finance him. So, I’m training him that momma may have but God bless the child that has his own, and once he graduates high school Brown’s financial institution is closed. I tell him, he should talk to his two older sisters to see if I help finance them.

The only way for me to get this through my son’s head, is that every time he calls or text me to go to the store for something, I reply; where’s your money? Now that he has to pay for everything, I see he’s not apt to buy the pricier things. Now when I pay for things, he wants the top of the line products. The bible says train up a child in the way they shall go and when they get older they won’t depart from it. That means we need to train our children in both spiritual and natural things. And, training our children about finances is one of the best trainings they could ever have. It will keep them out of debt, it will stop them from getting needless credit cards and it will teach them how to pay for things in cash.

My mother use to always tell me to show my kids my check, the bills and what we have leftover after everything was paid. I use to think that was too much information for my kids to have about me. But, when you’re trying to explain to your kids the value of saving a dollar it comes in handy.

Momma may have and papa may have, but it’s great when children have their own and don’t have to call you.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Let’s Be Honest

If we are honest with ourselves; sometimes we don’t always feel like being around people, hearing our friends problems, being there for everyone or even caring. If we are honest with ourselves; sometimes we don’t even like going to church, being around church folks, reading the word of God, or praying. If we are honest with ourselves; sometimes we just want to chill, not deal with the cares of the world and let the chips fall where they may.

In being honest with ourselves, we may hurt someone’s feelings, get on some people’s nerves and possibly lose some friends. Everyone owes it to themselves to be honest with themselves. It’s when we become people pleasers that we become unhappy, miserable and fake. Some of us will have problems with being true to ourselves so we need to ask God to help us. It’s not always going to be easy, but God knows how to season our words so that we will come off less offensive.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

That’s Who You Are

Today as I was meditating on the goodness of the Lord, I began to tell him who he was to me. Before I knew it, I was in an all out praise. I don’t know who God is to you but to me he’s:

The alpha and omega. He’s peace, a bridge over troubled water, protector, provider, healer. Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Jireh. The most high God. El Shaddai, Elohim Love, joy, comforter. Mind regulater, burden bearer, lifter of my head, lover of my soul.

I could go on-and-on but you get what I’m saying. Sometimes, it’s good to just adore God instead of always asking him for something. Sometimes, it’s good to just praise God without always having our hands out. Sometimes, it’s good to just say; Lord I thank you, I don’t want nothing right now, I just want to thank you. I thank you for who you are. I thank you for what you’ve done in my life. I thank you for not letting me die in my sins.

The next time somebody ask you, who is God. Tell them he’s the King of kings and Lord of lords. Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty; the Lord mighty in battle. Simply put, MY  GOD IS AWESOME!

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

It’s Free

We have this store where I live where you can go and get everything for free. I’ve gotten Coach purses, Burberry purses, Michael Kors shirts and pants, Nike shoes, Coach shoes, etc…we can go in this store as many times as we like and get as much as we want. I’m there all the time. This store has everything, from clothes, to books, to housewares and furniture. Whatever you need this store has it.

Jesus also has everything we need. If we need a healing, he’s got it. If we need a blessing, he’s got it. If we need peace, he’s got it. It doesn’t matter what it is, God’s got it and we can get it for free. It doesn’t matter how many times we come to him, he’s ready to supply our every need. So, stop listening to people that say you have to pay for salvation, or pay to receive a word from the man or woman of God. You can go to God for yourself. You can read the word of God for yourself and he will give you a revelation of his word.

Remember, Jesus paid it all.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Lord Help Our Children

Today I’ve spoken to so many different people and everyone I spoke to had the same comments. Everyone was concerned about the state in which our children find themselves. Some of our children are dealing with domestic abuse situations, suicidal demons, sexual identity, gangs, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, promiscuity, diseases, etc… and the best weapon we got for this is prayer. We are the first line of defense for our children. So let us pray:

Lord we come pleading the blood of Jesus over all of our children. Cover them and keep them. We cancel Satans assignment over their lives. We come touching and agreeing that our children will not fall to the enemies tricks and tactics. We decree and declare, our children will not succumb to drugs or alcohol. We decree and declare our children will not commit suicide or homicide. We decree and declare the gangs and the streets won’t have our kids.  We decree and declare that our children will finish school, they will know who they are and whose they are, they will be productive members of society, they will not be the neighborhood thug, they will excel in all they do. Lord help our children. Use them while their yet in their youth. Keep their minds, keep their bodies. Give us to be an example to them. Show them what true love is. When the enemy comes in like a flood, Lord lift up a standard against the enemy. Lord give us to never give up on our children and help us to raise them in the admonition of the Lord. In Jesus name amen.

We have to help each other to help our children.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

When You Don’t Want What You Begged God For

Have you ever begged God for something? You just had to have it and you became consumed with this thing or person, and although God knew what was best for you, he allowed you to have that very thing or person. Now that you have what you’ve begged God, do you  for you he said no?

You begged for that job, now you hate waking up and going to it every day. You hate your boss, you can’t stand your co-workers and you constantly complain about the pay. You begged for that man or that woman and now you’re homicidal because you can’t trust them. You’re up all day and night wondering what they are doing, praying that you catch them messing up. You’ve become border line psychotic thinking of ways to get them back for hurting you. You begged for that car when you really needed a house, and now you’re robbing Peter to pay Paul to keep up the payments. Oh, how you wish you didn’t have to deal with these things or these people.

We say we trust God, but when God rules out of our favor we begin to beg him for things that mean us no good. At the time we can’t see it, but God knows all. So, it is in those times that God will give us a very expensive lesson that none of us are really ready, willing, or can afford to pay. Then our prayers become; Lord if you get me out of this job, out of this relationship, out of these payments, I will never go back. So, now we’re lying to God, because as soon as he gets us out, we go right back into a similar or sometimes the same situation.

Will God get us out of what we begged for? Yes, but in his time. Meanwhile, we have to learn to take God at his word and accept the answers that we don’t like.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Everybody Want What They Don’t Have

We all think the grass is greener on the other side, so many of us try to get to the other side. We often look at someone else’s life and think; wow, I wish I had their life. Often times we look at other people’s gifts and start coveting their gifts and forget about the gifts God gave us.

When we start wanting what everybody else got and start complaining about everything we don’t have; we show how ungrateful to God we really are. We show how disrespectful we can really be. What we are really doing when we start complaining about what we don’t have is, we’re telling God he made a mistake, he’s not worthy, he really isn’t the King of Kings or the Lord of Lords, and we could be better off if we just had what we don’t have.

So, instead of looking at what everybody else got, let’s focus on what God gave us and make it work. Let’s use what we got to inspire someone else. Let’s use what we got and worship God. Let’s show God how grateful and thankful we are that he chose to bless us the way he has. And, let’s repent and tell God how sorry we are for acting like spoiled, ungrateful brats.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Don’t Get Upset

Dont get upset when you want someone to succeed more than they want to succeed.

Don’t get upset when you warn someone of the destruction ahead and they still walk in that direction.

Don’t get upset when you minister to someone and they still don’t accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Don’t get upset when no one else will do something in the church because you’re on every auxiliary the church has.

Don’t get upset because you helped someone out and now that you need help they haven’t offered any.

Stop expecting people to act the way you act and respond the way you want them to respond. We are all created differently and we all think differently. Besides, we were not always the way we are right now. There were times we acted just like the people that are making us upset. There were times we didn’t want more for ourselves. There were times we needed help, received help and never said thank you. Before we accepted Christ, there were times people ministered to us, and we looked at them like they were crazy.

Getting upset doesn’t change anything but our character. Instead, let’s pray for the people and watch God change things.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Free Your Mind

Is life getting the best of you and you you’re worried about everything? When you pray, are you praying unbelieving that God will fix the situation? Does the enemy have you on the run and you have nowhere to hide? Free your mind.

When you are a child of God you don’t have to worry about a thing. I know it’s easier said than done, but it’s true. I can remember when times were hard financially and I had more month than check; my nerves would get so bad because everything couldn’t get paid. But, one day around payday I sat on my bed and held my checkbook up to God and said; Lord here is my check and here is my bills. I’m going to pay my tithes and offering and you are going to have to do the rest. I then prayed Lord you said; you’d never have your seed beg bread, if you want me to beg bread tell me who to beg from.

After that, I didn’t worry what was going to happen. I continued to faithfully pay my tithes and offering and not worry about the rest and God did it. He blew on my check and blessed it. Eventually, he blessed me with better paying jobs and allowed me to get promoted three times between 2009-2013. With each promotion came more money and benefits, with more money came better tithes and offering. You’re issue may not be financial, but whatever it is, free your mind of it. Give it to God and let him work it out. Let him solve it and you start getting you a good nights rest. Stop losing sleep, hair, and weight because you are worried about something you can’t solve.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Friends

Growing up we never heard of parents being their child’s friend, but nowadays thats all you hear. Many of us don’t agree with it. I certainly don’t believe in being friends with my children. We may laugh and joke, but by no means are we friends. I never give them the impression that we’re cool like that. Furthermore, we don’t hang together. We have family time and I support them at their events, and most of all; I tell them and show them that I love them.

Now that’s my way of doing things. But, Jesus way of doing things is quite different. His ways are not our ways, and his thoughts are not our thoughts. He is our spiritual father, yet he calls us friend. He hangs with us. If we party, he’s at the party. If we work, he’s at the job. He’s a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He’s a friend that knows all about us; the good and the bad. He always has our back even when we deserve to go down. The mere fact that he calls us friend, should make us respect our friendship even the more. We should guard it at all cost. We should have a ride or die attitude when it comes to our friend.

Sadly, many people do not value their friendship with Jesus. They don’t care if they stay friends or not. Once they get all they can from him, they no longer see any use to continue being friends. We should never have ulterior motives when it comes to any of our friends especially Jesus. Now we know Jesus is a true friend, but can we say the same for ourselves. Honestly, I can’t. There have been times that I hadn’t been much of a friend to Jesus. I treated him, like I treat my kids. Sometimes I would spend time with him but I would show him that we weren’t cool like that. And, yet he pursued our friendship. He didn’t go and talk about me. He just waited patiently until I came to my senses.

What a friend we have in Jesus.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
