Ministry

Many people think being in ministry is just being called to preach. There are so many people in church who have ministry locked up inside of them. Ministry could be feeding the homeless, intercessory prayer warrior, working with the youth, blogging, whatever God called you to do, etc…

Never discount yourself in the church if you are not a leader or if you do a job that keeps you in the background. Honestly, the higher you go in ministry, the more the church expects you to pay monetary; especially when it comes to conferences and annual board meetings, etc… People don’t tell you that. Your goal shouldn’t be trying to be a celebrity in church, it should be wanting to be a servant. We always like to say; what would Jesus do? Well, the bible clearly tells us he was a servant and not a celebrity. As a matter of fact, when Jesus performed miracles he usually told the person, see to it that you tell no one.

Now a days, we get pissed off if no one gives us credit in church for doing something we say God called us to. And in return, we become cancer in the church and start chaos over nothing. Before you except your call to ministry, in whatever capacity it is, count up the cost. Ask yourself, are you able to except your name not being called? Are you able to accept rebuke and reproof from the pastor? Are you prepared for your fellow laborers in the gospel to talk about you, lie on you and not like you? Are you going to complain every time they assess a fee for this or that all in the name ministry? If you can yes, then welcome to ministry. If this is a hard pill to swallow, talk to God about it before you tell him ministry is too much to handle and that he needs to call someone else.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Believe In Yourself

Stop looking for someone to affirm you and affirm yourself. You must first believe in yourself. If God gave you a dream or placed a desire inside of you, don’t look for anyone to confirm it.

What will happen if the person you’re looking to affirm you and confirm the word of God, doesn’t agree with your dream or desire? Then what? Will you give up on your dreams and desires? Will you stop believing in yourself because of someone else’s opinion?

Don’t forfeit your blessing caring about what someone else think. Don’t give anyone that much power over you, that you trust their word over God’s word. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror and tell yourself; I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I can do all things through Christ that strengthen me.

Believe in yourself.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Did God Ask For Your Help

When was the last time you had a problem and God couldn’t solve it? Did he gather his angels Gabriel and Michael together to consult with them? Once they couldn’t come up with anything, did he finally reach out to you and say HELP, I can’t solve your problem, I need you to HELP me? Did you start worrying when he called?

The truth of the matter is, God doesn’t need our help and we started worrying when we started praying to him about the situation. We say we trust God, but if we really be honest with ourselves we only trust him in certain areas of our life. We trust him to give us the job, but we don’t trust him to make us the CEO. We trust him to get over the sickness, but we don’t trust him to do a complete healing and make us whole. The other day I met God at our normal meeting place and he told me; do not pray to me about it if you’re going to worry about it. In other words, if I wasn’t going to leave it in his hands, I should never give it to him in the first place.

Will you trust God? I mean with everything that’s going on in your life. They sing a song in church that says; I will trust in the Lord until I die. Are we just singing it or do we really mean it? Keep saying I trust you Lord until your spirit agrees. It’s alright to look at the facts of your situation, but you got to know the truth. Fact is, your marriage is not the best, but the truth is what God has put together let no man put asunder. Fact is, the doctor did give a bad report, but the truth is by his stripes I’m healed. Fact is, I am not qualified for the job, but the truth is God will open a door that no man can shut.

Stand still and see the salvation of God. This battle you’re going through it’s not yours it’s the Lord’s and the last time I checked, he doesn’t lose battles or wars.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

I’m Called But I’m Crippled

When God calls you to do a work for him, he already knows what condition your life is in. He knows what cripples you. He knows all of your bad habits, all of your vices and yet he still calls you.

When you hear the call of God, don’t give him any excuses why he shouldn’t use you. He’s not looking to use anyone that’s perfect. When you read the bible you find that everyone he used was jacked up in one way or another. And, these very people became mighty in the Lord; although, they had issues that crippled them.

Think of it this way, you still go to church and you are crippled. You still go to work and you are crippled. You still hangout and you are crippled. So why can’t you be used by God and be crippled? It’s because you’ve allowed the enemy and church folk to tell you you’re not worthy and you believed them.

Walk in the calling that God called you to and don’t listen to what the people say.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

It Doesn’t Matter What You’ve Done

Stop letting people hold stuff over your head. If God doesn’t hold it over your head then you have nothing to worry about. There are so many lost souls that won’t even step a foot into the church, because of hypocritical Christians who think they have a monopoly on salvation.

These Christians think they know the mind of God, and act like they are his spokesperson and final authority on who can and cannot be blessed, saved, healed and delivered. The bible says; whosever will let them come. That means: the whore, the liar, the pimp, the drug dealer, you, me, our kids, etc… God don’t care what we’ve done. It’s not his will that any of us perish.
However, it may be the will of that sister or brother in the church jumping and shouting all over place.

The bible also says agree with your adversary quickly. So the next time those hypocritical Christians come telling you about yourself, say yeah you’re right. I lie, cheat, steal, etc…at least I have the integrity to admit my sin. Unlike you on the other hand, deceiving yourself thinking you are without sin. Please, don’t let these people keep you out of church or keep you from getting to God. Everybody in the church does not act like this. There are some real people in the church that will tell you that we fall down and get back up. That some days you will give into temptation, that some days you will disappoint God and be disobedient, that some days you are going to want to walk away from the church and God, because of what you’re going through and the pain seems too much to bear. And it’s in those times that you have to cry out to God even more.

So, forget about what you’ve done, and focus on what you’re going to do for the kingdom of God.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

That Ain’t You

Today I was talking with my son and he began talking about how he has to stay in school for hours with people he don’t like. I immediately said, that ain’t you, stop acting like your sisters. Your sisters talk like that, but you have never talked like that or acted like that. He asked, why can’t I act like them? I repeated myself and said because that ain’t you. You are a people person, you get along with everyone.

How many of us look at other people’s behavior and decide we are going to act like them? We see it all the time with the sagging pants, with females calling each other out of their names, and they answer to it and think it’s cute. We see it with the latest fashion or fad. We see it with the drug dealers, hustlers, baby momma’s, rappers etc…

So, how is it, that we are quick to emulate those people? But, when we see Jesus behavior, we don’t want to emulate his behavior. We say; that ain’t me. The spirit and the flesh war against each other and if you don’t put the flesh under subjection, then it will always overrule the spirit. The bible says; no good thing dwells in the flesh. So, no matter how sanctified we are, no good thing dwells in our flesh. No matter how much bible we can quote, no good thing dwells in the flesh. If we are not careful, we will pickup other people’s behavior, and then they will be telling us, don’t act like that because that ain’t you.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

It’s Like Fire

Being a preacher, sometimes I want to go places where no one knows who I am. Sometimes, I want to sit in a service and let other people expound on the word of God. I was at our women’s bible study and I told the pastor I’m not going to say a word, I’m going to sit here and listen. I lied in the house of God. The women were speaking and Holy Ghost wouldn’t leave me alone. I begin to speak and couldn’t shut up.

I go to the gym every morning and lift weights. I messed around and put on a worship song. I felt the Holy Ghost moving on the inside and I started moving my mouth, but wouldn’t let no sound come out. All the time I was thinking, what in the world, I listen to music all the time while I work out. I came home, and started getting ready for work and the spirit moved again. I was worshipping and iron, worshipping and showering, worshipping and combing hair.

I went to church, and started praising and worshipping God. The tears began to roll down my face, I couldn’t compose myself. I went to the bathroom and came back and the pastor asked; are you alright? I said yeah, I’m just full of God.

Be careful about saying what you’re not going to do for God. He will stir up your spirit so fast, you will be trying stop yourself. When Jeremiah said its like fire shut up in my bones, I know exactly what he’s talking about. See, most people think worship is reserved for when you’re at church. But God as my witness, when the spirit of worship comes over you, you can be in the grocery store, the hair salon, work, or in my case the gym. It’s so powerful, it makes you want to run out of where you at and get somewhere and sit down. But when fire touches you, it makes you move, it makes you jump. And when the Holy Ghost stirs up on the inside of you, you cannot stop, drop and roll and yell fire.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

The Spiritual Hospital

The Church is the only hospital that has one doctor.
The doctor can see multiple patients at the same time and not violate any HIPPA laws.
He will have you go through a series of test and depending on how you do, you may have to repeat a few of them.
He will do some blood work, because the blood has power.
Don’t worry about having insurance, the bill is paid in full.
The only thing the doctor ask of you is a, yes.
He always gives you the right prescription the first time.
The medicine may be hard to swallow at first, but continue to take it.
Some medicines take longer to work than others when you don’t follow the instructions completely.
He has the cure you need.
He’s the ultimate specialist, for he specializes in everything and every condition.
He won’t waste your time telling you something that won’t help you.
You won’t need a second opinion.
If you take the doctor at his word, everything will work in your favor.
If you fail to take the doctor at his word, then the consequences could be dire, you could stay sick, bound or even die.
Some people may get to leave the hospital sooner than you, but don’t worry you will be able to leave when it’s your time.
Once your issue has been taken care of, you can always come back when another issue arises.
The doctor allows multiple visits, even if it’s for the same problem.
His office hours are 24/7 365 days a year.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Offended Christian Disorder ( OCD)

Many of our churches have people that have been diagnosed with Offended Christian Disorder (OCD). Somewhere along the lines, someone convinced them that they had to be weak and take offense, to everything and everybody once they got saved. This tells me that they are not reading the word for themselves. Nowhere in the bible does God call for his people to be weak. However, throughout the bible is does speak about people being offended.

You can always tell the ones in the church that have OCD. They always quit and leave their position/assignment before time. They never consult with God to see what he has to say. They try to get a posse in the church to back them up. They never come and reason with the person they believe to have offended them.

Perhaps, you’re one of these people. Instead of stirring up mess because you’re offended; go to that person and try to reason with them. If they listen to you then you’ve won a brother, if they don’t listen, get one or two more people and go back. If they still refuse to listen go before the church, if they won’t listen to the church then they will be as a gentile and tax collector. This is the word of God.

If we settled all of our offenses like this, there would be far less people with OCD in the church.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.

Oh Taste And See That The Lord Is Good

Everyone’s new year didn’t start off good. As a matter of fact, a lot of people brought last years mess, problems, drama and turmoil into the new year. They have been so busy complaining and consumed in their mess, that they haven’t even consulted God about their situation.

Even when they come to us and start to murmur and complain, we are suppose to stop them in their tracks, we are not suppose to consign on their madness. For every negative they speak in our hearing, we are suppose to put a positive on it. When they say; I’m so sick of my job. We are suppose to say, oh taste and see that the Lord is good. Look how he blessed you with that job, there were more people qualified for the job, But God. When they say; this year is starting out bad already. We are suppose to say, oh taste and see that the Lord is good. You’re looking at this year from the wrong perspective, you need to look at this year the way God sees it.

When we taste the goodness of the Lord, it makes us want to keep coming back for more. It makes us want to please him, because we know if it had not been for the Lord on our side, where would we be. When we taste the goodness of the Lord, it makes us want to love our enemies, even though they sought our demise. For we realize, it’s not the Lord’s will that none shall perish. When we taste the goodness of the Lord, it makes us want to share the gospel with everybody, because we want them to feel and experience the same thing we feel and experience.

If you have never tasted the goodness of the Lord. I implore you, to taste and see that the Lord is good. He’s sweeter than the honey on the honeycomb.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
