Many people think being in ministry is just being called to preach. There are so many people in church who have ministry locked up inside of them. Ministry could be feeding the homeless, intercessory prayer warrior, working with the youth, blogging, whatever God called you to do, etc…
Never discount yourself in the church if you are not a leader or if you do a job that keeps you in the background. Honestly, the higher you go in ministry, the more the church expects you to pay monetary; especially when it comes to conferences and annual board meetings, etc… People don’t tell you that. Your goal shouldn’t be trying to be a celebrity in church, it should be wanting to be a servant. We always like to say; what would Jesus do? Well, the bible clearly tells us he was a servant and not a celebrity. As a matter of fact, when Jesus performed miracles he usually told the person, see to it that you tell no one.
Now a days, we get pissed off if no one gives us credit in church for doing something we say God called us to. And in return, we become cancer in the church and start chaos over nothing. Before you except your call to ministry, in whatever capacity it is, count up the cost. Ask yourself, are you able to except your name not being called? Are you able to accept rebuke and reproof from the pastor? Are you prepared for your fellow laborers in the gospel to talk about you, lie on you and not like you? Are you going to complain every time they assess a fee for this or that all in the name ministry? If you can yes, then welcome to ministry. If this is a hard pill to swallow, talk to God about it before you tell him ministry is too much to handle and that he needs to call someone else.
Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
