Don’t Get Worked Up

on December 20, 2014

In life we tend to get worked up over the wrong things. We get worked up if the store runs out of the product they’re advertising. We get worked up if someone cuts us off in traffic. We get worked up if the cashier is taking too long with the customer in front of us. But we don’t get worked up if the enemy is attacking us or our fellow brothers and sisters. No, we get scared, we get offended, we start crying, we start going to everyone else for their opinion, instead of going to God.

How is it, we can be the first ones in line for the Black Friday sales, but can’t be the first ones at church for prayer?
How is it, we can spend our bill money on Christmas presents and New Years Eve outfits, but then go to church and say I make pennies, I can’t afford to pay tithes?
How is it, we look to God to pay our bills, but look to the doctor to heal us?

The next time we start to get worked up, we need to stop and ask ourselves; is this really going to change anything? Am I getting worked up over the wrong thing? Is God pleased with the way I’m acting?

We’re really not going to like the answers we receive to those questions, but we need to know the truth. The truth is, the stuff we get worked up over doesn’t amount to a hill of beans at the end of the day. Instead of letting our light shine, we act just like the world. And since we don’t show the world anything different, we can’t minister to them because we’ve lost our witness. So, what are we really getting worked up for?

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
