Sleep On It

Has someone ever asked you to do something and immediately without hesitation you said yes or no? Never giving a thought to what you just agreed or disagreed too. The next time this happens, sleep on it before giving them an answer.

When you sleep on it, it gives you a chance weigh the pros and cons of committing or not committing. It gives you a chance to see what’s in it for you. It gives you a chance to really see how people will act if they think you’re going to answer in a different way than they thought.

When Jesus was sleep on the boat and the storm came, the disciples said does he care if we perish. It’s not that Jesus didn’t care, but you get to see a persons true colors when they get in a bind or a tight spot. Besides, they asked you for help, therefore, you are entitled to sleep on it.

Maybe just maybe, when you sleep on it and they say never mind; they’ll find out that they really didn’t need you. They just needed to discover what was inside of them.

Now What

When all hell breaks through in your life, you ask God, now what. What am I supposed to do with this mess of a situation I have on my hands? What is going to happen now, and like clock work God becomes silent.

Did you ever stop to think, that your problems had to get permission to exists in your life? When you get to the point of now what, you have to keep it moving. Trouble don’t last always, but because we harp on our troubles almost every waking moment of the day, we continue to breath life into them. Even when our troubles seems to be dying down we go and put them on life support.

What would happen if we treated our troubles like God treats them? You know, just be quiet and make it seem like they’re not bothering you. Then all of a sudden, one day out of nowhere take care of it. Now what moments can strengthen us if we allow them too. However, we have become so accustomed to our now what moments defeating us, that we’ve lost that fight inside of us.

How is it, when we ran the streets we didn’t take any mess from anybody; and now that we’re saved we act like cowards at the first sign of trouble. God don’t need no coward soldiers in his army. Fight the enemy like he said something about your momma and when he raise up say NOW WHAT.

Stop Racing Each Other

Each one of us have our own race to run, however, it seems as though we are trying to run someone else’s race. God has each of us on a different course and track but we won’t stop looking at the other persons course.

Some married people look at single people and wish that they were single, but they don’t realize the single persons course might be a lonely one. Single people look at married people and think Lord why am I not married. However, they might not realize that married persons course is full of lies, deceit and cheating. We look at other peoples courses on our job and think, man I can’t wait till I reach the top. Not knowing their course is full of stress, unhappiness, and cut throat actions.

We have to realize that God knows what he is doing. He has not made a mistake by putting you in the race you’re in. By the way, it doesn’t matter how fast you run, the race is not finished until the Lord calls you home. But don’t use this as an excuse to run slow either. Pace yourself, and when you find yourself getting winded; pray, seek God’s face and catch your second wind.

Pain

All of us has experienced some type of pain. Whether it’s physical, emotional, or psychological. Nevertheless, we didn’t die in our pain.

My knee hurts so bad, that it swells up at night and burns awfully bad, however, I can’t stop walking, I can’t stop working. No, although it hurts extremely bad, it hasn’t killed me and I have to keep living until my change comes. Whether it’s a knee replacement or something else.

Pain let’s you know what’s inside of you and it lets you know just how much you can bear. Sometimes when you’re in pain it seems as if you’re not going to make it and that this is the end. But somehow, someway you always manage to take one more step, to make it one more day; and look at you now. You’re much stronger and wiser.

No matter what type of pain you are in, you have to keep living. You can’t allow the pain to cloud your judgement, and yes, even in your pain you have to trust God. Even, when it feels like God is no where around or it seems as if he’s forgotten about you, trust him.

How Bad Do You Want It

Everybody in my family knows I love Garrett Popcorn. I have gone as far as to route my planes through Chicago just to get this popcorn. The country I live in has a Garrett and it’s about an hour 15 minute train ride. Mind you, you have to take three trains to get there. Well tonight I did it. I wanted this popcorn so bad that I made my son come home from hanging with his friends to watch my grandson. I know it’s sad, but I wanted it bad.

How many of you really want something in life but you are too afraid to go after it? Or, you feel like it may take too long. News flash! Whether you go after it or not, time will pass. If I could catch three trains one way for some popcorn, just think if I really wanted something from God what I would do.

We have to have a no matter what attitude. No matter what it takes, I’m going for what I want. People may laugh at you or talk about you while you’re trying to achieve it. But they will be the first ones with their hand out when you make it.

So, how bad do you want it? Only you can answer that.

Don’t Make The Wrong Decision

All of us have to make decisions on a daily basis no matter how small or big they are. Some decisions we make will have no real consequences to them because they are so minor. Then other decisions we make can have long term effects on our lives.

Has God ever told you to do something, but instead you decided to do the opposite? Now you’re paying for that decision and it doesn’t feel good. Or perhaps, God has warned you, that the decision you are about to make is wrong. Yet, you continue to act like you don’t hear him. It’s better to listen to God and choose his decision, then choose the decision of your flesh.

Warning comes before destruction, so decide wisely. Can you afford to make a costly decision? Some costly decisions could be; not confessing the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, cheating on your spouse, fornicating, lying, turning your back on God, etc…

Society makes it easy for us to decide the wrong things. All the while, we know the right thing to do but our flesh craves the wrong thing to do. Bottom line, we have to desire God and desire to do the will of God more than the devil desires to sift us as wheat.

Keep Asking

Have you ever asked for something and was told no? However, that didn’t stop you from keep asking. Somehow, NO, was not the answer you were looking for and you continued to ask until the answer changed to yes.

Well today,my NO turned into yes. Twice a month I go on the radio with some colleagues and we discuss the upcoming events about our various jobs. At the end of each show the interviewer always asks do I have a final word. I would always say yes, you need to give me my own radio show and I would tell him the title of it. He would always laugh and we would go off the air. Like clock work, he asked the same thing today, and I gave my same response. This time he said let’s talk. After talking, he said send me an email. I got back to work became very busy but sent the email a few hours later. We did some back and forth and by the end of the day I got the final email. You are a GO. You have your own radio show and it starts next week.

I was so happy and started calling and texting everybody. It reminded me of the lady in the bible when she troubled the king until he gave her what she kept asking for. If you know you want something and it’s not illegal or belong to someone else, go for it. You may be told no the first time but don’t give up. It took months for the radio show to say yes. And, when you get your YES be ready. As soon as I got my YES, I sent them the first topic of the show and outlined what I wanted to talk about and how we would transition into each subject.

All I can say is, if God be for you, who can stand against you.

Do You Love Me

Do you go around acting like Jesus is not enough for you? Do you feel like you need something more than Jesus? Has Jesus ever had to ask you, do you love me, do you trust me, will you do my will?

For many of us, Jesus has had to ask us ; do we love and trust him. Why is that? Could it be, we say one thing with our mouths but we do another thing in our actions. Could it be that loving Jesus means caring for the poor, and we’re only worried about me, myself and I. Could it be, trusting him means taking our hands and mouths off the situation.

Do you love me? That’s something to think about, especially; when Jesus has to ask us that question.

You Will Make It

Despite of what everyone thinks about you or says about you, you will make it. Who cares what other people think anyway. The only thing that matters is what God says and what God thinks.

As a matter of fact, God said whosever will let them come. You and me are included in the whosever will. Therefore, you are going to make it. No matter what it looks like now, no matter what the doctor says, no matter how the economy looks, you are going to make it.

We serve a God with a cattle on a thousand hills, he will never leave us nor forsake us nor have his seed begging bread. Keep telling yourself, I will make it. I will succeed. Not on mans terms but on God’s terms and in God’s timing.

Stop listening to what the people say and stand on what God says; his word will never return unto you void.

I’m Done With You

Today I asked my grandson to give me a hug. I guess he felt like I was hugging him too long so he said; are you finished because I’m done with you. I replied, you’re done with me! He said yes. You asked for a hug now I’m done with you, good night it’s bed time and left my room.

When he said that I began to wonder. How many of us can stand flat footed and tell the enemy I’m done with you, mean it and go about our business. We need to tell the enemy, I’m done being your puppet, you’re no longer my puppet master. I’m done lying, I know you’re the father of lies, so I’m okay being a fatherless child. I’m done cheating my way through life, because Jesus said all I have to do is ask in his name. I’m done sinning, because I found out that God is married to the backslider. He won’t divorce me. He’s standing with arms wide open waiting for me to come back home.

When your done, be done. You no longer have to explain why you’re done. Just show the enemy the God you serve is bigger, better and badder than he will ever be.
