Thanksgiving

on November 27, 2014

This is the day that everyone in America pauses to say what they’re thankful for, then commit sin. We willfully sin on this day by becoming gluttons. I know we never thought of this day as a national day of sin because we disguise it as a feast.

To atone for our sin we feed the homeless and the less fortunate. We act like this is the only day that they need something to eat. Tomorrow, we will push and fight our way through crowds and beg the cashier to take our hard earned money. Then we will brag about how much money we saved. We would save a whole lot more if we didn’t spend it at all.

Sadly, thanksgiving has become less about family and Christ, and more about food and shopping. Today, did we truly wake up with our minds on Jesus or did we wake up with our minds on cooking?

If we didn’t have all the food, would we be thankful? If we didn’t have the money to spend tomorrow , would we be thankful? Truth be told, someone is about to spend their rent money, sale their food stamps, spend their light bill money, charge up their credit cards, go into overdraft, etc…and for what? To say you caught a sale. But rest assure they are going to pay their cell phone bill, they have to have something and someone to talk about.

And this is Thanksgiving.

Be blessed and continue to be a blessing.
